Fixtures and Chucks for Woodturning

A great book for the woodturner
An excellent book, clearly written and great illustrations. I learnt so much in the first few pages. Not bedtime reading as you won't want to put it down! Covers most if not all aspects of putting wood on a lathe with loads of "make it yourself" chucks, fittings and jigs plus sensible "to do" projects. Highly recommend it for yourself if you are turner or as a surprise present for someone who turns. A great price too!

Very useful
Buying a scroll chuck for my wood lathe was the best decision I made, but although it has proved invaluable, there are limitations to its usefulness. This is where "Fixtures and chucks for Woodturning" comes in handy. From simple jam chucks to steady rests, this book will provide lots of information on how to make a chuck to suit a specific purpose and probably save you money on the cost of buying specialist equipment. I make jigs for all sorts of woodworking tasks and along with making chucks there is a certain satisfaction to be gained from feeling more involved in the craft of making things by hand. Probably not essential, but definitely useful for the ambitious woodturner, or those who simply want to be more expert.
