I have a display space in my house that I wanted to illuminate at the same time everyday.I had used a programable electronic wall timer, but had nothing but trouble with it.It was not user friendly and every time the power went out I had to start over from scratch.This timer is exactly what I needed.Simple to use, and easy to reset after a power outage; just rotate the dial to the current time.I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that the frame in made of plastic instead of steel, like a regular light switch.I would buy it again.

Heard to get the Intermatic for better reliability so went with this for outdoor lights. It stopped keeping accurate time just after the 1 year warranty, so couldn’t return or replace. Ended up with a Sun Smart that changes with day length thruout the season, so far so good on that one.

Timing increments on dial permitting exact timing cycles. Ease of installation and very reasonably priced.

I got this mainly since I wanted a timer with smaller time increments than 1/2 hour (and this has 20 minute settings). I actually hoped for one that could go in 15 minute blocks, but I'm not finding such (besides cheapy ones that plug into outlets and are often rated for only 5 amps). It did cost more than many, but I think I got what I'm paying for. I plan on using it to turn on my cars engine heater 40 minutes before I usually leave during the winter months (and I've been able to tell the difference in how the engine sounds/runs with it pre-warmed, especially in freezing temps).The one secret I can tell you that's not in the ads for this switch is that it's switch is actually a "single pole double throw" (where the incoming power goes to a terminal that's usually on, then when it switches the power is cut off of that terminal and sent to another). They included 3 wires coming off of it to work as advertised (for connections to hot, neutral and the load being controlled), but there is another connection if you want to use that "normally closed" connection (you'll just need to get a flag connector).

It has few wires and is easy to install as long as you have a rudimentary knowledge of what's hot and what's neutral when it comes to your electrical wires. The directions are straightforward and simple, although it may take a few tries to get the timer set as you like it. One of the things I like most about this system is that you don't have to worry about replacing batteries or about it being thrown way off by an electrical outage. After 3 months it's still plugging away doing exactly what was promised which is to light the outdoors only during nighttime hours so that I don't have to waste time or electricity flipping the many light switches around the outside of the house on at night and off during the day. We'll see what happens in a year.

Works simply and well. Not difficult to adjust a few times per year. Remember it has a specialty cover...

I was already using an Intermatic timer previously. It was installed over ten years ago, by the electrician and billed as "cheap and dependable". That it was, but only had the ability to turn power on and off once per day. Finally addressed the need for setting the timer to operate at various times and there are not many inexpensive solutions for a 20 Amp application, that also fit into the existing wall box. This was it! Looks good, reasonable cost and does the job. I'm certain that being an Intermatic product, it too will give many years of dependable service!

I needed to replace a pin timer for my whole house fan and this one, while a different brand then the original one put in my condo, is identical in looks and obviously function. It's beyond easy to install, I do only BASIC home improvement things, and this was easy even for me! I knocked one star off because the plate cover that comes with it is thicker in depth, so the on/off/timer switch doesn't completely come up flush with the cover. I ended up using the old cover from my first timer and it fits perfectly.
