Had best insinkerator garbage disposal, so quiet, sometime users left it on. Fortunately it has a shut off to keeping motor from burning out. The switch is on only when you hold it on. Works great and solved my problem.Recommend strongly if you have same need. Easy to replace switch on wall. Took me about 5 minutes.

Works great and I don't have to drill a hole in my sink! I just recently bought a house and they had a standard switch installed for the garbage disposal. I have two children living in the house along with a clumsy girlfriend so a standard switch wouldn't have cut it for me. I usually try to get repair parts locally, especially because the house is within a mile from Lowes, but for some reason you cannot find these switches in stores anymore, all they sell are the ones that you need to drill a hole in your sink with and have horrible reviews, that's not what I planned on doing. This installed just like any other switch and it cuts off every time I take my finger off of the switch. Definitely worth buying for those that have a physical wall switch for their garbage disposal.

Sight-unseen, I was worried a little the feedback / feel of this switch would be 'mushy' or feel like it would break or get weak after a few months or years.I installed it a few weeks ago after using a standard light switch for the disposal for years, and realizing that's not the safest thing in the world. This makes me feel much better/safer having a wall switch for the disposal. Some people add an air switch in the countertop, but that would require drilling an extra hole in quartz, and ain't nobody got time for that.It is a quality switch, with a great feel, and it looks right at home with my other electrical outlets and switches along the countertop.

The switch was right price and works as intended. Unfortunately, Amazon changed the delivery date after I bought it, pushing delivery back. For this time-dependent project, we had to buy one locally, rendering the delivered product valueless.

We are remodeling the kitchen in our 1950’s house which has the touch-plate low voltage wall switches. Press once for on, press again for off. The new kitchen wiring is 110v per standard and we needed to include our living room touch-plate switch in the same box as the 110v decorator switches. These look identical to the decorator switches and function as needed for the low voltage system. The rocker spring is quite strong so it pops back quickly. Just what I needed! I may replace all the remaining touch-plate switches with these to update the look of the remaining rooms.

I always put safety switches (requiring a person to hold the switch in place) on garbage disposals. Usually, they are ugly and very expensive. This is a stylish and reasonably priced option. Looks much better than a standard toggle switch.

Garbage disposals scare me. Cover control disposals seemed far more common years ago, but now most units have nothing but some rubber gasket between you and a spinning blade. This switch is the next best thing. Push it up, and the mechanical monster underneath your sink roars "FEED ME GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!". Let go, and it shuts up. It makes you more mindful of disposal operation, and less likely to just be lazy and leave it running while you're shoving in food scraps.Even though it's a momentary switch, it has the same "snap" feel and slightly pebbled surface as other P&S residential grade decorator switches. The white plastic color of P&S switches and outlets is slightly different than Leviton products. If you're picky about color, though, there's really no alternative -- if you want momentary operation, it's this, a much more expensive old-school toggle from some electrical supply shop, or an air switch.

As a former Electrical Inspector and Master Electrician, I firmly believe that this momentary switch should be installed for operating a garbage disposal, whether it's code or not. UPDATE!! After less than two years of limited use the switch fell apart. Combining metal springs and plastic parts is not a well thought-out design. I'll save myself the bucks and install a regular single-pole switch.

Safe operation for garburator and quality product. 1/4 the cost of equivalent product from Leviton.

Sure beats a normal on off switch
