Works like a Charm ... most of the time
Great item for the money - perfect for home-use (personal collector, online seller or even an antique dealer -ect). Easy to follow instructions are included. I would not recommend it however for a retail type of jewelry business due to being made of plastic. It was not ALWAYS accurate either. I 'tested' it on one diamond that I knew was genuine and 1x out of 10-12x it did not not accurately detect as diamond even though diamond was a genuine. One must also know the approx carat weight of the diamond and 'dial' to that weight - if not there will be a false reading. The tester then beeps when tip detects genuine diamond or does not beep to indicate not a genuine diamond. I think this may have something to do with the particular temperature characteristics of a diamond - but I'm not very sure?) Bear in mind however that although it did signal a false-negative (did not detect as genuine diamond) - I also tested on a rhinestone and it never gave a false positive reading (indicated as genuine diamond). So from what I gather: If you get at least one positive, it's a genuine diamond. I definitely recommend.

Seems okay
An unusual purchase, bought on a whim for my wife who loves gemstones. She has tested it on all her diamonds and other precious stones. We get readings but not sure if it is a scientific instrument or a fancy gadget toy. We plan to use it when out shopping to verify any stones being offered, but I am sure it will need some more field testing to be able to ascertain its effectiveness for sure

Seemed To Work Great
I feel that it worked fine..I tested stones I knew were not diamonds and than on real diamonds and it worked fine. I don't know if a professional would use this model but for the DIY guy I think its a great value.

Good for beginners
The instructions weren't very detailed. As a first time user I had to watch a YouTube video to get the hang of it. I'd suggest having a a real gem and a fake so your not guessing! Great for the price!
