Check the last pages are there!
The book (and the full series) are amazing! I'm re-reading after a 10yr break but realised the first 2 in the series were missing, no doubt lost in a house move.Book one arrived and I could not be more excited! I finished this in super quick time so made sure I ordered the second one in time to crack straight on with it.Lying in bed last night, coming to end and thinking 'yay... I know book 3 is on the shelf waiting for me' but to my absolute horror... the end of book 2 was missing! You can imagine the bitter taste of disappointment. I felt wounded and incomplete (just like the book).. But never fear, having just reported this to Amazon, they have another one to send out for me tomorrow.Moral of the story... if you order a book from Amazon, check it's all there before reading it and suffering the same heartbreak as me!

The quest continues …….
David Eddings’ second book in his Belgariad series of fantasy novels continues the story begun in the Pawn of Prophecy as the original companions are joined by additional interesting and colourful characters including a noble Lancelot-esque knight and a headstrong imperial princess as their quest becomes even more perilous as they journey through the southern kingdoms of this imagined world. Not only do we find out more about the companions but we also experience the gradual development of the teenager Garion as he becomes aware of his aptitude with magic and the real identities and histories of Aunt Pol and Mister Wolf. As we become more aware of the widespread political unrest the narrative definitely begins to have a feel of the Lord of the Rings but the tone is much more lightweight and accessible, while the clandestine intrigues give the narrative a satisfying depth despite the entertaining prose and amusing dialogue. Onward to Magician’s Gambit!

The Queen of Sorcery
The titles of David Eddings books always get to me. Coming to the end of the book I do wonder why it was named this when most of the book deals with Garion. That being said this is an excellent book. Even better then the first in the series. It does take time to get its feet but when it does you will be hooked. I have had this series for several years and only just got around to reading them lol. Anyways, I can highly recommend this book.

a great saga
This is my third time reading this series, the story is good and the characters enthralling. I would recommend this to anyone.

The Belgariad: Surely one of the best series of fantasy books ever written!
David Eddings’ Belgariad is simply brilliant (of which this is one book of five; first one is 'Pawn of Prophecy'). The characters are well drawn and engaging; you instantly want to know them better. The world they inhabit is a fantastic place, brilliantly conceived and beautifully transcribed into text, for you to imagine; with each book revealing a whole new arena. The story concept is truly an epic; it has everything from impossible odds, gods, cryptic prophesies and characters of legendary proportions. I’ve followed Garion and his friends and family for a long time; revisiting them occasionally is like going on holiday to a familiar hide-away. Once you’ve finished the Belgariad (I’m sure you will), pick up the ‘Guardians of the West’ first title in the long awaited (at the time it was written) sequel, the Mallorian.Happy reading!
