AACN Core Curriculum for Pediatric High Acuity, Progressive, and Critical Care Nursing, Third Edition

This book is well worth the cost. Nicely written, organized. Up to date and information is applicable to nursing practice.

Arrived as expected. Great resource.

The information provided is very useful and presented logically. However, the photos they chose to include of x-rays are horrible. They are just black masses where you can't see anything. Also, their diagrams used for the heart were not helpful for me. Either they only show the surgical repair, but not the actual problem, or they use their own odd method to show all the chambers of the heart. I don't get why they could not just have used a heart, like most text books, to show all the malformations. The pictures are also sometimes pages later than when the information was given. The formatting also really varies. Some sections are perfectly formatted, while other sections will have multiple points are bunched together on one line. If you all you need is the information, this is a great book! If you are looking for awesome pictures and diagrams, it is on the weaker side.

I do agree that this is a good resource to have, especially for someone like me who is a new grad nurse in the IMCU (intermediate care unit aka step-down). The xrays and other diagnostic images are TERRIBLE! You cannot see anything. It sucks because visuals help me understand so much but I guess I’ll have to google the images 😭

Love the book and the quick delivery, however it came with the back cover folded/damaged. Very disappointing for such an expensive book.

Amazon says that I purchased the ebook edition for the kindle app but it did not download on the app.

This book is terrible. All the info is just poorly copy/pasted from a bunch of research articles. The formatting is awful, there’s no flow to the text at all. Categories of info are grouped very badly, and as others have mentioned, the pictures and figures are confusing, if not completely wrong. Dozens of typos and downright grievous errors. One of the most frustrating resources I’ve ever encountered. So not worth the money. I originally bought this to help study for the CCRN. Quickly dumped it. If you have the same goal, just buy the review course on AACN’s website. It is expensive, but if you schedule your test at the same time the review course is half off

Everything up until the second chapter is cut off at the bottom. Very disappointing after spending over $100 on this item.
