A cool product from Sub-Zero
To begin with, this Isoball feels sturdy. That’s a good sign. I actually made an unboxing vid for my radio producer as I was quite excited.Considering the computer modelling done these days on acoustic foam for studios I had expected it to be textured but instead it’s like looking inside a foam bean tin.The pop screen fits nicely. There’s an extra bit to fit different size Mics from performance mics like a Shure SM58 to studio mics like the Rode NT-1A I have.So that’s basically it but how does it sound? Well let me start by saying it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than the Kaotica Eyeball and YouTube videos of side by side reviews say they are very similar, so I had high hopes. My room is unfortunately a functional room rather than a dedicated studio so there are lots of reflective surfaces and one of the main draws of this is to cancel out that on about 300 degrees. I’m also using the official Rode mic suspension. So I’m set up and it does make a good improvement on reflections. I’m noticing the pop screen on the isoball is letting through more sibilants than the Rode pop screen but the suspension has a mount for that so I’m putting it infront of the the one the Isoball comes with and that’s definitely improved things no end.So in conclusion this isn’t going to sound like a studio booth with acoustic treatment all over it, but that’s thousands of pounds to set up. What it does do is produce a very good quality dry sounding recording worthy of broadcast on radio, podcast or voiceover duties. If you’re forced into a room with hard surface directly behind you you may still get reflections of that, but if it’s a door hanging a blanket over the door helps.Honestly I’m very happy to recommend this. I’m getting great results and it was easy to set up (2-3) mins are your up and running. You could argue the Kaotica looks a bit cooler but you’re buying the performance not the looks and at a lot, lot less I’ll take the saving. The built in pop screen isn’t bad it’s definitely usable but could be better and using an additional screen or putting foam wind baffle that came with your mic inside it as well is an easy fix.I’d definitely buy more if I need them and have recommended if to my producer and other music and radio friends.

Limits reverb and extraneous sounds in a very compact form-factor
I have a couple of these "Isoballs". They're not a substitute for an accoustically-damped room, but they go a fair way to reducing sound reflections and ambient noise. The design is really straightforward: it's a block of acoustic foam with a hole drilled for a condenser microphone (there's a removable collar, so you can fit thicker microphones too), and a larger hole on one side, which is the side you speak into. This larger hole has an integral but removable pop filter, so you have everything you need in one little ball.I record podcasts in a room full of glass surfaces, so I seriously needed to reduce reflected noise. These Isoballs have done the trick without me needing to fit mini-recording-booths or anything else that takes up more space. The only problems I've encountered are:- It can take a few minites to gently squish your microphone through the acoustic foam. It needs to be a snug fit, so the recording end of the microphone is in free space inside the ball.- The large shockmount that comes with the Rode NT-1 is too big to use with the Isoball: they both need a fair bit of the length of the microphone barrel. So I've switched to a cheaper and smaller shockmount instead.

Brilliant - much better than the alternatives.
I have a real problem with sound reflections in my my home office. Even with excellent audio kit the sound is echoing and hollow. I tried a small sound booth with acoustic foam inside, but as it was open at the front, top and bottom it just didn't do much. Faced with the prospect of covering my office in hideous acoustic tiles, I decided to give the IsoBall a go. It's great. The sound is noticeably richer with this on and it's not so ugly that you can't use it on webinars (be warned - it is big!). I use it on a Yeti Blue with Cardoid sound pattern.

Works Well
I have this in my home studio and it does help the sound. I have tried the big wrap around reflexion filter types, but they take up a lot of space and are generally heavy - so a pain to keep the mic stand from tipping over. This uses the same principles as the eyeball, which generally gets good reviews. I use still use a pop screen to ensure correct distancing, and the supplied screen seems to let some of the plosives through. Added bonus - stops room dust getting into the mesh of your mic!

Simple and effective
Simple design idea with effective results. Does an amazing job, no background noise and vocals are clear. This puts many higher priced options to shame. I am also using a pop filter in front of mine, highly recommend this product.

About as much use as a water soluable umbrella ella ella
Without a doubt, the single biggest waste of money you can think about. If you take £20, flush it down the toilet and then use nothing at all to reduce sound, you will be £20 better off and have better sound reduction than nthis absolute joke of a product.A lump of foam, non accoustic foam at that and a hole in it. Tada! Zero sound reduction and zero value for money.Seriously, these things do NOT work. None of them. Get an actual vocal booth for £10k or don't record at all. Using one of these gimmicks is just that. A gimmick. There is a very good reason why actual recording studios do not use these toys. They are complete and utter nonsense.

Really Makes a Difference!
I'm currently recording some of my published work as audio books, and had a problem with external noise. I'm not in a position to make a soundproof studio, so the SubZero has proved to be an effective solution. I record using a Røde NT-USB microphone, and this fits comfortably. I have found an increase in wet mouth noise, which I think may be due to the integral pop filter. I have placed the Røde pop filter over the SubZero filter, and this seems to have remedied the issue. However, this might just be me! I am highly satisfied with the product.

Buen producto.
