Sunset Overdrive is definitely in my top ten!
This game is very addicting (to a certain point). I would consider this game to be on my top ten games of all time list: For quite a few reasons:Traversal, Guns, Customization, Enemies, Humor, and Visuals are all top notch!Traversal takes some getting used to and may be a turn off to some. I was nervous that I would not like the traversal because I've never played a game where you have to constantly be jumping/bouncing, grinding, dashing, and wall running. However, once I understood the controls for the traversal, all I wanted to do was jump, bounce, grind, dash, and wall run for two reasons. 1. It's fun as hell and 2. You increase your style points/combo meter by doing these things which makes killing enemies so much easier! Traversal surpassed my expectations and I'm glad I was able (and still able because I still play this game) to experience this very original style of moving around.Guns are awesome! At first when I started this game I only used a few guns because they seemed to work well for killing enemies ("tnt teddy" for example because it does a lot of damage). However, once I upgraded these few guns to the max, I wanted to max out the levels on my other guns. Some guns that I did not originally like, now, I use all the time because of how good they are once upgraded ("the dude" for example because it takes out the biggest OD enemies so quickly). Basically once a gun is maxed out at level 5, it does serious damage to enemies.Customization is sweet as well. I love being able to change everything about my character at any point during the game. I have been every type of body type throughout the game, male and female. I have also worn the most crazy and ridiculous outfits. I know before I ever played the game I assumed that I wouldn't wear crazy outfits, but rather, I would wear clothing that matched (like you wear in real life); however, it was so fun to mix and match outfits to your liking.Enemies are varied and add a certain depth to the game. There are many types of enemies, all of which can be killed faster or more efficiently depending on how well you know the weapons. Each weapon has a 4 star rating of how effective it is against each enemy. You will understand this once you play it! The enemies look awesome and are sometimes a challenge to kill. For example, the blowers will really mess you up if you are grinding on the same rail and are not changing up traversal.Humor.... :-) this game is hilarious and my type of funny. There are so many jokes about video games in general and a bunch of easter eggs that will make you laugh (assassins creed and arrested development jokes). Mostly everything the characters say in the game is comedy.Visuals are amazing. The colors in this game will blow you away. The colors of the environment, guns, explosions, and characters are so vibrant and pleasing to look at. The graphics on this game are just fantastic. The only thing that somewhat upsets me about this game is that now that I have collected all the achievements, upgraded all my guns, and completed every mission possible, it is hard to keep me from continuing to play this game (but keep in mind creating replay-ability is one of the hardest thing for game companies to do). My only suggestion for Insomniac (other than continuing to come out with new dlc) is to keep coming up with new missions for chaos squad (online multi-player) so that we aren't doing the same missions over and over... like Bungie's Destiny...Anyways, like I said this game is definitely in my top ten!

Modern-day Jet Set Radio
Where to begin? I guess some comments on the actual product. The Day One Edition on Sunset Overdrive comes with three special items: A Fizzie character outfit, the "Hardcore!Hammer" melee weapon, and the "Nothin' But the Hits" gun. All of these are great items in-game, though my favorite would have to be the melee weapon, since it's much better than the crowbar you start out with. It also comes with a card for two days on Xbox Live. The game itself now. Sunset Overdrive is a third-person action/shooter game. The plot involves a contaminated energy drink (Overcharge Delirium XT) which turns anyone who drinks it into a disgusting mutant. You play as a former Fizzco janitor as you try to kill the monsters and find a way out of the city. Not much of a plot, but this isn't a game you play for the plot. You play for the amazing gameplay! There is a fair bit of cursing, and the humor might not be for everyone, but I'm really enjoying it!I like to call Sunset Overdrive the modern-day Jet Set Radio, as most of the gameplay involves grinding, bouncing, and just being stylish with your kills. It takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, combat and traversal are really fun and enjoyable. You actually power up your weapons by being stylish! Speaking of powering up,there two types of weapon upgrades: Amps and Overdrives. Amps are for your weapons; they have effects like fire damage, ice,or stun. Overdrives are your ability upgrades, like taking less damage from ODs or increasing the damage of fire weapons. The game also has co-op multiplayer through Chaos Squad, which is a blast and is highly recommended.Overall, I would recommend Sunset Overdrive to every current or potential Xbox One owner.

A solid game with sequel promise
I really enjoyed this game. It's a cross between Infamous Second Son and Dead Rising, with silly references. It makes little sense, but it's fun with great performance and loads of baddies flooding the screen. The controls are a bit challenging, finding I was grinding walls rather than rails, or rails, rather than swinging on at a few poor times. And sometimes the speed made the moves painful, like when you climb large buildings as part of the story, I found I couldn't get the camera facing the right direction in time to properly perform an action or two. Luckily they have a check pointing system that saves you often, so you can at least retry in shame.I kind of wish there were more outfits, but that's one of my foibles: never enough wardrobe.I have had this game freeze and crash about ten times over the course (I've beaten it, which is rare for me to say these days about games). It's not the end of the world as it saves often, but it's a serious let down. Pop goes a star. All in all a fun game that does take some skill to master. I'm glad it's price dropped. I paid full for it, what ever that was (I assume $60?) and now it's $40, which makes it about perfect.

Unique, with flashes of brilliance
Either the best, or perhaps the worst, game on the Xbox One. The style of humour is weak and childish, and the emphasis on character movement actually limits your tactical options when in fights. But the game really grows on you, and outside of combat, getting around the town feels amazing - but only after about half the story is over. The different movement powers, such as the doublejump, only open up after you've completed much of the game. Instead, the game should've unlocked as much of the movement as possible right from the start, and then it could have opened up progression in other ways. Still, if you persevere, then this actually becomes a really enjoyable game, and it has some great touches of humour, when the writers get out of the way anyway.
