I have this pen in Brass and aluminium so very familiar with the product. This steel version is just as fantastic. The simplicity of the pen means that I can use Uniball Signo refills in it.

Kaweco sells many versions of "Sport" pens. Based closely on a 1935 octagonal design, most of them are made of plastic, and most of them are fountain pens. The Kaweco Sport Rollerball is very similar to the fountain pen, sharing size and dimensions. When closed, it's virtually impossible to tell apart from the fountain pen. But when the cap comes off, you see a conical tip where the nib and feed are on a fountain pen. This is in contrast to the Kaweco Sport Ballpoint Pen (and pencils), which look roughly like a regular wooden pencil, but considerably thicker. The "Ballpoint Pen" uses a D1 type refill, which is skinny, like what you'd find in a multi-pen.The "Rollerball" is called a "Gel Roller", because it's shipped with a Gel Roller cartridge, but in Parker G2 format. For those who don't know the difference, gel rollers have a gelatinous water-based ink inside, that is very pleasant to write with, but the ink is usually not waterproof, and they don't write on slick paper like some greeting cards, or photos. But, since the refill is a Parker G2 style refill, ANY* ballpoint ink filled refill in Parker G2 format will fit and work. Ballpoint ink is oil-based, and more viscous, meaning that it will last longer than a similarly sized gel refill, but may not write as smoothly.The family of Sport pens are truly small in the pocket at 108mm/4 1/8", and large in the hand at 133mm/5 1/4" long with the cap posted on the back of the body. The weight of the plastic versions of these pens is just above 20g each, but the metal versions (brass, bronze, and steel) are between 45-50g. Even though they are virtually all the same size, the metal ones feel much more substantial in the hand.Brass and bronze are relatively soft metals, but harder than aluminum (like the Kaweco AL Sport), however brass and bronze will patina (corrode on the surface) over time (which can be polished out with Brasso or a polishing cloth). Brass (66%) and bronze (88%) is made with copper, so it will not only develop a lovely patina, but your fingers will also smell metallic, like when you rub a penny between your fingers for 10 minutes. All metal pens will get scratched and/or scuffed, depending on what else is in the pocket with your pen. Stainless steel will not only show the least amount of "damage" from other pocket debris, but it won't make your fingers smell. It also is very corrosion resistant, and won't make your fingers smell funny.Construction is excellent, and this pen will last an incredibly long time, measured in decades! There is no pocket clip, but it's an option available for about $5.*NOTE: One notable exception is the Schneider XB 755 refill, which has a wider point than other Parker G2 style refills. It will NOT fit on this Kaweco Sport, or any other pen that I'm aware of, except the Schneider Slider Rave XB pen and the Rotring 600. Beautiful refill, writes wonderfully smooth...not compatible with most of my metal pens. Sigh...

I can't stretch enough how much I like the stainless steel rollerball. It makes your everyday writing so much more pleasant. Initially, it feels a bit heavy, especially when it is compared with the AL range of Kaweco pes. Although the feeling and the robustness of the stainless steel material is definitely superior. I like to hold in my hand and play with while I am studying. The pen comes with black ink so If you want blue I suggest to order along with the pen.

ステンレス素材のペン収集に嵌まっています。手持ちのペンの中では一番重いですが重心位置と短軸のおかげか扱いやすい部類です。ひんやりとした印象と無骨な形状が素晴らしいです。真鍮のような経年変化は望めませんが、手に金属臭が付かないので安心して使えますね。ペンの機能としては単純構造なのでほぼ一生使えそうな点も嬉しいです。
