True facts.
I read this book because my Dad was in WWII but would never talk about. I wondered just what he had to go through.

Great book for my elementary school child
My 8 year old recently read another book (about the Navajo Code Talkers) and expressed interest in WW II. In searching I ran across this title and my son absolutely devoured it. It held his interest fully, and ended up with him asking good questions...and asking for more books. Educational, engaging, fun--it had my son reading AND asking for more books! Winning! For context purposes, my son is 8 years old and nearly done with second grade. His teacher tells me he is 'above grade level' in reading....and the lexile score for this book is 640. He likes books anywhere from the 500s-1000 (though really, I'm not sure how accurate that rating is!) He seems mostly happy with the 600s-800s range as far as I can tell). His latest reads include Bunnicula, Mr. Revere and I, Flat Stanley, and the A to Z mysteries, as well as Navajo Code Talkers (We the People: Modern America series) . Quite a range he is reading, but my formerly reluctant reader is enjoying reading.Other than his fabulous teacher (and Amazon seeing as we are living overseas currently and the local selection is slim to say the least), I'm sure his reading has a lot to do with finding books that engage him and this WWII book is definitely one of them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.JTG

Wonderful!
My nine year old LOVES this book!! He's gone through every choose-your-own-scenario at least twice! He can actually quote lines from the book. It's provided great conversation for us, and he asks lots of questions about the war. Just advanced notice... the reader is a character in the book (soldier, doctor, pilot, etc), and several of the scenarios that the reader chooses will end up with their character dead. It is definitely an accurate portrayal of what could happen during WWII. It was certainly fabulous to see a third grader so into a historical book that he couldn't put it down!

My son LOVES these books and so do I
I bought a handful of these hoping they wouldnt just be another failed attempt to get my youngest (11 year old son) to actually want to read. Well these books brought success. He gets to interact with the book by making choices so hes even excited to re read the books that hes finished to see what happnes when he makes differant choices...the best part is they are based on true events so he is learning history and not just reading for fun. Will be buying lots more of these.

My boys love these and recommend them to others
My boys love these and recommend them to others. We now have a large collection and our library is also beginning to purchase them. I like the history in the books and the boys like being able to make (you choose) choices to complete the story paths.

Nephew loved it
My nephew reads the interactive history books at school and loves them. He hadn't read this one yet and was thrilled when I got it for him for his birthday. They are a fun and interesting way to learn about history. He likes being able to choose different routes to the story. I am planning on eventually getting him the whole set.

Children's Books
I have sent many of these interactive children's books to my grandson and he has enjoyed each one of them. The interactive keeps him involved in the story because each time you or he reads the book it changes because of the choices the the child makes at different stages throught the story.
