Works
We needed this for the solar heater. We've had ours about 2.5 months and so far works fine. We can't run our pool vacuum unless we use this diverter to turn the solar heater off, not enough pressure with it on. So we've actually used it several times, but works just like it says. If I have any breakage issues I will update posting. So far turns the thing off and on just fine. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars, Ecosaver really should include this with the solar heater. Even if they charge a little more for the heater with it. We would never be able to clean the pool without this thing. And you're not supposed to have the heater on when it's not sunny or it can cool your pool water. So it would be pointless to get the heater without this valve. You will also need 2 clamps and 2 hoses to connect it to the heater and then to the pool. I purchase 2 Hydro Tools pool hoses 9ft by 1 1/2inch (from Amazon $20)and works great, no leaks. We got the clamps at a local Walmart but could prob find at any Hardware store. As for the reviewer who said it broke the first time they tried to take it apart, you don't need to take this apart! The solar heater is flexible and comes rolled up the long way in a box. When it comes times to winterize, just roll it back up - DON'T NEED TO TAKE IT APART! Not sure why they felt it necessary to do that. It's just plastic and only meant to stay on, not taken off.**Update! Got a solid 2 years out of both the solar heater and this valve before needing to replace. For pieces of plastic this is about what I expected. Solar blanket only made it 2 years as we'll. we are getting another set. At an investment of $150 every 2 years we'll worth the money. The solar heater doubles our swim-able days easily and the gas heaters run 1-2K so still very worth the money. Our valve and heater never leaked. For winter just unhooked and left in the sun to dry out one day. Rolled it starting at the end opposite the inlet/outlet so any extra water would roll out and kept in garage rolled up. We actually did away with the rack for it too and just layer it on the decorative rocks behind the pool facing the sun. Worked great! Buying another set today!

Works Very Well
I put a solar heating panel on my 15 foot above ground pool last summer and it worked well to raise the water temperature and extend the swimming days, but I didn't like the fact that anytime the pump was running the water was going through the solar panels. On cloudy or rainy days, the panels would cool the water instead of heating it.I ordered this diverter, although I couldn't find anything diagrams or instructions showing how it went onto the panel, but I thought I'd give it a try. In setting up the solar panel this year I put the diverter in as instructed on the valve kit, and found that it works very well. If I want to keep the water from going through the solar panel I can turn the diverter and bypass the panel. When I do I get stronger water pressure, and the water isn't cooled by nighttime temperatures on the panel or on cloudy or rainy days. The instructions say to take note of the different settings of the red valve handle, which is open, closed or partly-closed, and this is very good advice. Once the diverter is installed it's impossible to see when it's open or closed, so it's best to take a look and make a note before it's installed to save time and energy later figuring it out. It snapped nicely into place and did not leak. I'm very pleased with the diverter and I know it will make a big difference this year on the water temperatures in the pool.

It's okay, it will eventually leak. Not the best quality. Will improvise with something else now that it's going in the garbage .

Good functional use, however issues with robustness.
Product worked well once installed, but connections are not 'firm' or robust if moved. Works exactly as promised once installed, and heating value met expectations. Valve stiff, but works well.

Broke within a week of using it.
Broke within a week of using it. The valve within this broke so that the water would no longer divert making this product pretty much useless. As a tempory fix (we wanted our solar panel up and running) we cut a plastic cup bottom to block the water flow which worked but doesn't give us the option to bypass the solar panel without disconnecting this and removing that plastic cup bottom. Save your money and look elsewhere for something more robust. (The solar panel connections are also flakey so if we aren't by the pool we never leave the solar panel connected to the pool since multiple times we sprung HUGE gushing leaks after the pump was on for a while since something wiggled loose. We don't trust this product not to drain out our pool.)

It lets me turn off the solar panels so I can run the pump at night or in the rain without turning the panels into a big radiator. A must-have.
