truly unbelievable...
Best book ever!My copy has been retaped along the spine twice, I cannot express how wonderful it is to become completely absorbed within the words of Jiddu Krishnamurti.Absolutely fantastic book. I recommend to anyone over the age of 14. I especially recommend to those in high school, put this book into the hands of a youngster in your life!

One of his very best!
This is a great starting point for a Krishnamurti adventure! Could not recommend highly enough.

spirituality beyond religion
Krishnamurti dares to go beyond all kinds of limitations caused by our education, be it religion, culture, tradition.Maybe it seems hard in the beginning to drop some values which seemed to be very important before, but it is the only way if somebody is searching the absolute !

Great substance; poor audible delivery.
The substance of Krishnamurti's teachings is profound. However, his delivery is very slow, disjointed and eccentric, not to mention the poor audio quality. There are long pauses between sentences. He often speaks one or two words at a time and keeps asking the audience, "are you following this?" Of course, there was no high fidelity sound systems back then and it shouldn't be construed that his teachings are somehow not up to standard. His teachings are unique among the jumble of spiritual teachings (most being new-age mumbo jumbo). Krishnamurti stands head and shoulders above all these so-called teachers. So if you have the patience to cope with his eccentric manner of speaking (that's for the audible version of his books), you will find his teachings to be a literal treasure trove.

The intro alone makes buying the book worth it
I think Mary Lutyens does the best job editing, so any work with her as editor is always the best. However this comes close, beautifully edited and gives you get a chance to understand things more clearly by removing the usual meanderings of Krishanmurti. The into alone was so powerful I spent easily an hour re-reading and pulling out the gems. I'd say "freedom from the Known" is probably the most accessible work, but this still is a must read.

It's at this point that language almost collapses. Deeply profound and very liberating.
