The M1 Garand: Serial numbers & data sheets

Good info on history of M1 Garand.
The manual was very useful in determining the manufacture and vintage of this iconic platform. Using the manual allows me to determine if one of these ladies come across my bench. Very detailed and informative. Nice job!

Nice and compact
Nice for the Garand collector. Does not cover all serial numbers, but has enough to be helpful. Duff's other publications are more complete and should be added to your reference collection.

Not as great as I had hoped
Doesn't include details for each month of manufacture. So if you have a serial# like mine, which puts it at 9/1943, you are out of luck; Duff only provided August and October . Also, at the back Duff states that the Stock Cartouche for GAW on Springfield stocks began in October 1943 when many others including Duff in other sources put the date at around the 1.8mil serial number which is closer to July 1943.
