They Work Great If Installed Correctly
Okay - after reading the negative reviews I was a bit nervous but these looked like the perfect solution to have valves to turn on/off water input/output, pressure relief and flush valves/system all in one neat piece. I am pretty handy but probably not more so than anyone who will install their own tankless water heater. So, I did what I usually do - neatly measured and cut all of the copper pipe and along with the gas pipe assembled everything from the source all the way to the tankless heater but held the soldering. When you assemble everything like this before you solder, you are pretty sure everything is lined up and that is the key if you never want to have a leak. As a hint, when you connect the unions at the top of the valve pull out that rubber compression washer and hand tighten the unions - that keeps the washers from getting damaged or warped when you eventually solder. So, when it is all assembled and everything is aligned and straight you start soldering. When everything cooled down, I reassembled the unions with the rubber washer and tightened everything to specifications. I turned on the gas and water valves and guess what? That right - instant hot water from my Rinnai tankless and not a leak of water or gas and I mean not even a speck. These worked every bit as well as I had hoped and would certainly recommend them to you - make sure you take your time, align everything perfectly before soldering and you should be just fine. Good luck!

Handy Product
I was also hesitant after reading the questionable reviews on this. Webstone makes an IPS (non sweat) version of this isolator valve for all those shaky with the torch - If I'd known this I'd probably order that one instead. I installed the valves a few weeks ago and I'm not seeing the leaking issues others have written about. Read the instructions: disassemble the unions and remove the rubber washer and flush cap, take you're time and don't overheat! If you look on the back of the box is states in small letters: DO NOT BRAZE OR SILVER SOLDER. This isn't stated in the directions and I only learned this after calling the manufacture. Webstone told me that the higher temperatures of brazing will melt the inner plastic components of the valves ultimately causing the unit to leak. For those with this problem, your oxy-Acetylene torch may be to blame.

necessary evil
Code requires these or something functionally just like them, so we might as well grin & like it.I've used them twice and they work great.I was worried about using the relatively high temperature silver solder (that's needed in water systems) with this unit that has plastic seals on the ball valves.I used mapp gas for quick heat and soldered it with the valve body itself in a shallow pan of water. no problems but there would probably have been no probs anyway.I do wish they had threaded fittings instead of sweated ones so one could use a brass thread-to-copper connecter and keep any heat away from the valve body. but that's just me.

Amazon has LOST my business
We ordered these valves on March 11, 2013, to be used with the installation of our new tankless water heater. The water heater was purchased on March 12, 2013. The water heater arrived on Friday, March 15, 2013. Today, March 20th, I check to find out where these valves were since they should have been delivered on March 18th. The shipment had been "initiated" but never picked up by FedEx. I call FedEx who has yet to pick this up from the shipper (Amazon) so I called Amazon. I was told there was a problem and the item may be lost. The representative checked about a replacement only to tell me there are none available and then states I can have a refund which will be posted to my accound in 7-10 business days. This is NOT acceptable since my purchase should have been picked up for shippment already and delievered already. Now I am without the parts for the water heater AND my money. Amazon apparently is too big of a company to truly care about their customers and our hard earned money. I have loved ordering from Amazon for the last several months and spent a great deal of money with most of my Christmas shopping being done here. I will NOT use Amazon ANYMORE and I will NEVER RECOMMEND USING AMAZON again. My money is worth more to me than being jerked around by a company who sells items they are incapable of shipping to their customers and have none in stock to even replace the original order. Sounds fishy to me. I wonder how many other customers call to find their shippments have mysteriously disappeared.

Buy local - this leaks
The review that states "They work great if installed correctly" is misleading. It presumes that us plumbers who have tried don't know how to install correctly and assumes that all products are perfect and that it is the installers fault. I wish I had seen the reviews before I ended up purchasing this. I received them, installed them PROPERLY but the HOT service valve's pressure relief orifice is NOT machined correctly. It is warped. I used white teflon, then gas teflon which is thicker, then finally after cleaning it off, I used pipe joint compound. It still leaked!! I then tried a different pressure relief valve, then for the heck of it a 3/4" capped nipple and this confirmed that it was not the supplied pressure relief but the actual hot water service valve which is defective. In the middle of my install and without water to a residential house, I got on the phone to Amazon and spoke to a very nice lady (Carla). She was very helpful unfortunately though I can't return just 1 part, but the whole thing which means uninstalling the working COLD service valve and sending everything back. That's great but what if the next set has a leaky cold valve now? I have to re- uninstall and send THAT back and hope, no pray that I get a good one. As the other pro's said, these valves are a waste of your TIME and MONEY. Buy local or another brand.
