Punching above its weight...
Got this as replacement for a Canon sx110 which i lost. Was between this and the panasonic fz45, and lots of people and reviews said that the fuji was not as good. (Which for example) but others said that for the money it was fantastic...infact most of the camera mags said it was worth consideration. Having gone for it I am so far very impressed.Pros -* Options, options, options...loads of capabilities though the screen menus are not the most intuative sometimes you get used to them* Tactile, really nice to use - zoom is excellent even when in movie mode, feels sturdy and looks more expensive than it is.* Build quality is brilliant, well designed (clever use of memory card bay and chunky components)* Zoom is brilliant, ive seen reviews on here saying at full zoom its rubbish, but to be frank ive nothing but praise...including a shot out of my hands (no tripod) at nearly a mile and a half....really good.* Burst mode is excellent from what i can see...i think this is a vital component* Plenty of settings and options (if you don't want to learn about the camera don't bother, as it takes some time to learn what needs doing...ive still not really scratched the surface.* Shot quality is generally as good as my last camera and it seems to excel in certain circumstances in particular low-light (not al the time but enough of the time), when flash is required, and macro which is brilliant. I think the colours sometimes suffer in general use but frankly it is hard to complain* Video quality is very good for the price...wont get on the bbc but for everyday use its superb and its better than i am used to... i think most peope will see it and be impressedCons -* Complicated - as said above its requires mental imput* Bit big? - It is quite large so bear it in mind...i think its better suited to mens hands and i like it but women may find it cumbersome* Menus - could be better but not a disgrace* Have to reset the settings each time for say burst mode or timer which is annoying but fair enough* If you turn the menu/settings noises (beeps) off then other things also stop working (like the timer front flash etc)...bit annoying* Lack of instruction book is fairly pathetic but doesnt cause a mojor issue (just print four pages per a4 and its fine for most people to read)Overall realy impressed. I think it comes down to this..... are you wiling to have some slight compromise on certain areas in return for an overall package that is pound for pound the best out there? If you are wanting something easier to use or learn or something that does specfic things outstandingly then perhaps not for you but as an all-in-one its really good at everything it does and for that alone worth consideration. Bear in mind as well that if this was a Canon or Nikon it would be £400!

Ordinary Person
Having been through so many bridge cameras this year i have settled for what i found the best all rounder (for the person that is creative and just wants nice pics) not the professionals opinion, its an ordinary persons affordable bridge camera.First impressions nicely packaged (expensive looking), open box and have all the usual software, strap and even some batteries, (fuji please supply sun cap) but to continue the camera feels heavy and solid very well made compared to the much lighter lumix`s in its class, has rubberised grip that feels like a dslr, about the same size and feel (like you get your money`s worth), so far very impressed.Pop in batteries and begin, well all i can say is absolutely brilliant!! on auto mode its easy to take pin sharp pics and easy to focus, the folding screen is clear and very usefull, the eye view finder (regardless of everyone saying they are no good on bridge cams) is the best i have used on anything recently (including Canon G12) moving on to the slightly more advanced modes , scene, ap and shutter priority the camera just gets better and better, the images are sharp with typical high quality fuji colours. Now on to the biggest bonus feature " THAT ZOOM LENSE " as you will already know it has a 30x optical and due to the weight and chunkieness of the camera its easy to steady without a tripod so images are sharp and in focus (unlike shaky FZ100) i have managed to get some crystal clear shots at full focal lenght. My only negative i can give (which is really nit picking) the processor is a bit slow.To sum up with the only exception above, this camera is the best bridge on the market!! (i have tried them all), in firstly value for money, ease of use, exceptional quality images and build quality, you would expect the other guys to be better for twice the price but they really are half as good as the hs10, (i have had nikon entry level dslr that just dont compare), this really is a great buy you will not be disapointed, oh yeah and amazon cheapest and we all know the best.

Dissapointed
I bought this in 2011 on the recommendation from a friend but I just could not get on with it at all. I found the controls fiddly and the lack of an instruction manual infuriating therefore a great many of my images were not as good as I am used to. In the end I sold it on Ebay and purchased a Nikon D7000 and the difference between the two is immeasurable. The only thing this range has going for it is the long zoom lens but if you happy with a less than perfect shot at it full length, then this is for you. If you want professional looking images, I would avoid. Having said that I have seen a lot of shots by friends who have this and they are very nice. Maybe it was just my particular camera which was a dud.
