Something did not occur to me at the time I bought this lid: the effect my pot handle would have. I bought this lid for the 5.5 inch measurement. So imagine my disappointment when I placed the lid on my pot... and it didn't sit flat because the pot handle had just enough of an upward angle to interfere with the lid sitting flat, i.e. because of the larger diameter, one end of the lid sits fine on the pot, while on the other end, the lid sits on the pot handle. It works great on another one of my pots where the handle does not angle up. I give this product 5 stars. It's well constructed and does the job. I hope this review will save any future buyer some disappointment. It's a good product. Just make sure you take into account the larger diameter for your smaller pots with handles that might interfere with the lid sitting flat.

I have a lid-less $$$ "Clad" pot that seems to hail from a parallel reality, as when I contacted the manufacturer to purchase a replacement lid, was told there was "no record" of a tall-and-narrow six quart stock pot and so no lids were available. I then tried Amazon, and purchased the RSVP lid as it appeared to be the only "medium" sized universal lid that would at least *look* like it belonged on an 8 1/2" pot. Not a perfect solution, but better than No Lid At All.Info/Measurements/etc------------------------------------Lid looks to have an edge-to-edge diameter of 9 1/8" and has four "sizes" - three inner-rings and the edge.1st ring: 5 3/8".2nd ring: 7 1/8-2/8" (slopes).3rd ring: 8 1/8-2/8" (slopes).Lid edge: 9 1/8".Trying it out on three pots---------------------------------------- #1 is a Milk Pot, but it came with a "strainer" lid and having a lid with a Vent Hole would be ideal. The Milk Pot's inner diameter is about 5 3/8", which makes the RSVP lid is a perfect fit!! Unfortunately, a 9" lid on a 5 1/2" pot does look a little silly (see picture), but ironically it fits better than the original "strainer" lid. Maybe I can find a smaller universal lid someday? #2 has a 7 7/8" inner diameter, but also has a raised lip around the edge which makes the actual size to be about 9 2/8". The RSVP lid sits on top, but does slide a little as it's a bit too small for this particular pot. 9 2/8" pot = juuuust too wide. #3 is the lid-less "Clad" pot with an edge-to-edge diameter of 8 6/8". Since this falls halfway between the 3rd ring and the edge, the RSVP lid can slide around, but gravity should keep the lid in place. This is certainly better than No Lid At All, and actually an improvement since the original lid lacked a vent hole and glass center. As the RSVP lid isn't that much larger than the pot, it also *looks* like a suitable replacement instead of an oversized hat.Quality-ish-------------------From what I could tell by searching the site, in early 2019 this particular lid looked to be the only "universal" lid for medium-sized pots. All the others I noticed were much larger, and using a larger lid makes a smaller pot look like it's wearing an oversized hat. Since the RVSP lid appears to be the only one of this size, it's This or Nothing. Still, for the price range this item is in, it's par for the course.One of the other reviews mentioned the lid being Rather Dirty, so when it arrived I examined the lid and prepared to give it a good scrubbing. Aside from the grey layer of grime, also noticed that part of the edge had been sanded/ground away. Called the wonderful people of Amazon Customer Service who set up a replacement order. The 2nd lid arrived in much better condition - not so dirty and at least the edge was smooth rather than rough. Several imperfections (scratches, etc), but this is to be expected for material in this quality range and price point. Ex: if the correct "Clad" lid actually existed for me to purchase, odds are it would have cost about three times as much.As others have stated, the center area where the metal meets the glass can "trap" dirt/debris, and it was a little tricky getting between the glass and metal to clean it. Drying involved cramming a paper towel between the metal/glass and forcing it around a few times. Annoying, but still better than No Lid At All. While I would guess this lid claims to be "dish washer safe", I have read in The Book o' Fine Print that "safe" does not preclude getting scratched up over time. On handling this lid, am thinking Hand Wash might be MUCH better than putting it into a dish washer. (Unrelated: The Book o' Fine Print also hints that generic non-stick pots/pans might need to be "seasoned" with oil, and this is why many of the generic non-sticks fail so often...)Last bit o' trivia: It would seem that this lid is more chrome-y/shiny than satin/brushed nickel-y, and handling the lid will leave fingerprints/smudges/etc. Won't win any beauty contests, but a much better alternative to No Lid At All.

I bought this to use for a new 12 inch. frying pan. It kind of works, but doesn't quite cover the pan adequately.

What I like the most is not only that I don't need several lids of different sizes for my pots, but that I can see the state of what I'm cooking through the glass. The only thing that could be improved is that the handle is made of metal and you cannot remove it directly by hand because it gets very hot. I can't say anything about its longevity because I just bought it but everything is excellent so far. Very well thought out design,fits perfect.

It works only if the pan handles are attached at a straight angle to the rim of the pan.if using for the smaller size pans, the handles also have to be lower than the rim of the pan. Or the edge of the lid should not touch the handle. Otherwise the lid will not fit.It will work well for pans with no handles or handles that or a straight angle to the rim of the bed

This fits both my wok, and 12 inch carbon steal frying pan. What I like most about it is the all stainless steel construction doesn't allow any crevices for water to accumulate. I had one lid that had a see through window, but let water collect in edges after going in the dishwasher. This lid is one piece had doesn't have those issues

This lid is much better and sturdier than the aluminium and plastic one I replaced with it. Very good build quality, and I like the glass panel so I can see what's happening. Ridges help it to fit on some pans, but obviously not all. As the other reviewer stated, if your pan's handle angles upward (on a smaller pan), it will interfere with this lid and lead to an imperfect fit. It still worked well enough, but left a bit of space for steam to escape and caused some discolouration of the steel.Overall I'd recommend it, but only if you're not totally counting on a perfect fit for all your pans. (But realistically, with something "universal," who is?)

Quite well made and heavy; but (and this is important), IT COMES FROM THE USA. Which means that it is effectively impossible to return (due to cost). I didn't notice this when I ordered itAlso, it doesn't fit very well the pan for which I purchased itSO; not a good purchase, for me at least

Have been wanting to get one of these for some time now. I use it on my large cast iron pan as I was using a splatter stopper covered with foil, now I don't need to do that anymore. Saves on foil and I can see inside the pan.

i bought 2 of these but one arrived with a dent on the edge but i couldn't be bothered to return it. they are beautiful and one is perfect

Great lid and fits all my pans.
