Baby Rattlesnake

I ordered this book because I just finished the movie about Te Ata. It is nice. It has cute illustrations and I like the bio at the end. It is a great addition to any indigenous book collection.

My grandparents used to read this to me and my siblings when we were young, it’s such a cute story. Now we’re the adults, trying to remember what we liked as kids, so we can read to our nieces and nephews. My parents liked buying us books that were culture inclusive, so we ended up with a lot of sweet stories with indigenous roles. A couple others that we liked were: The Goat in the Rug and Mama and Do you Love Me?

Love the illustrations and story. Purchased as a gift for my grand nephew.

I finally got my book, and I love it! So will teachers, parents, and kids! Baby Rattlesnake throws a temper tantrum that’s so loud that his tribe gives in. My favorite part…an elder says let him have his rattle. He’ll get into trouble, learn a lesson, and everyone else can sleep.That’s exactly what happens! Baby picks the wrong human, the chief’s daughter. She lets Baby have it, and he goes home crying. Hopefully, lesson learned! I LOVE this story, and Mira’s pictures…GORGEOUS! I hope you check out this book and her illustrations.

Cute book! Good delivery!

My grandsons (8 and 10) both injoyed this story. It has a good lesson regarding waiting and it was easy to talk about the sounds of SH and CH.

As a former preschool teacher, I have read and told this story to many children. They so easily relate to Baby Rattlesnake and his desire to have something that he is not old enough to be responsible with.I have also recorded, in my own voice, this story for my granddaughters adding sound effects for Baby Rattlesnake's rattle. Wonderful Native American story.

Wonderfully illustrated by Mira Reisberg. Little snake wants a rattle but he's too young to have one. When his parents decide to give him one he gets into mischief. A must read.
