To save a little space, I use one of these to switch my external monitor between a Mac laptop and a Windows laptop.The Mac handles things beautifully, remembering which windows were on the external monitor when I switched away and then restoring them to it when it 'returns'.The PC is a little less graceful, treating the monitor as "new" every time I activate it, but I am used to the PC being a little frustrating to use vis-à-vis the Mac, and I only need the extra monitor real estate for special projects on the PC occasionally.

Because I cannot stand the slowness and clunkiness of Fire Sticks, I ran 30+ feet of HDMI cable from my TV to the desk where I keep my laptop. When I reach the end of my patience with the Fire Stick, I pull up the streaming service on my laptop and divert the picture to my TV. The picture quality on the TV is great.My Setup:On my laptop, I keep my screen "extended" onto a second monitor. In order to easily switch between the second monitor and the TV, I plugged the monitor and the HDMI cable from the TV into this switch. I then just keep the switch connected to the laptop's HDMI port.Downsides:To switch between video outputs, I use the button on the switch; I have not tried the remote. As best I remember, there seem to be three positions on the switch, and I have not learned what each position means. To send the picture to the TV, I have to press the button, wait a few seconds, and see where the picture goes. If the picture does not go where I want it, I press the button again. I have to repeat this process when I redirect the picture to the second monitor. If I used it more, I am sure I would get the hang of it.Also, every once in a while, the screen "Extend" setting might get messed up. This could be Microsoft or me pushing the buttons. Easy to fix.

I got this for my mom who has a lot of trouble figuring out how to use the TV remote to switch between video sources. Now she just has to push the button. No more wading through confusing menus on the TV. Simple, and easy to set up. Works exactly as advertised.

Purchased in August 2020 and it has worked great switching devices a few times a week or none at all, simple and easy. No difference in quality that I am aware of, although our systems are not top end. We are using a Sony Blueray\DVD on one side and a windows laptop on the other to do Britbox, youtube, Amazon streaming. We used the Sony for netflix discs for years, until the service ended, so lately not much switching. I just wake the laptop and get it started, then switch the TV HDMI source from xfinity to the device and am off and running. No playing with display on the laptop which is facing away so it does not distract from the TV. I use a cheap Dell laptop that I dropped and broke the screen on, so it cracked and screwed up on the right side and is nearly useless for PC use, but on the TV it fine and full screen, because the video card is fine.

Bought for a friend who had trouble getting back to TV after watching Roku. Too many buttons/menus to scroll through and change sources. This allows both cable and Roku to go in one HDMI port on the TV. Press/click the little button on this device and switch sources. Now just use cable and Roku remotes and never have to find and use the third 'real' TV remote. Like the decades-old A/B switches some cable providers required to see all channels. Device is really small and ended up using two-sided tape to keep it in place. The two HDMI cables (to TV, from cable box) were stiff enough the device didn't want to sit properly. Roku stick just plugs in the side.

I needed a 2 position HDMI switch to allow me to watch some shows that I missed from my PC on the TV. I don't want to keep pulling and replacing the HDMI cables on the back ot the TV every time I needed to do this as these connectors are not designed with this in mind and will wear out or could break and this switch seemed to be the answer. The problem is that it simply doesn't work. It is small and seems solidly built and appeared to be the answer I was looking for. To test it, I connected the TV to the single jack on the one side and connected my Fire Stick to the #1 input on the other. The switch gets its power from the input side and the Fire Stick powered it up. The problem was that the fire stick would not work with it. All you would see was the initial Amazon logo when it first power up and that is as far as it goes. I unplugged the fire stick from the switch and directly into the TV and their, it went through its entire boot sequence and worked as expected.I have a powered 5 port switch in use on another TV system but only need two positions so I gave it a shot on that system. I know that HDMI switching works there because the 5 port switch does. This switch is being used to switch between a digital tuner and a ROKU box and since I really only need the two ports, I figured that I could put this two port switch there and move the 5 port to where the Fire Stick is being used but once again, it failed. Where it would power up from the digital tuner connection and send the picture to the TV, there was no sound. There was no point even connecting the ROKU box up to it because if it doesn't work with the tuner, who cares if it works with the other.This was a real disappointment and I would suggest to anyone buying this switch, that you try it out well within the return period because it may not work for you either and even though it is not a high dollar item, why lose the money as well.

Simple setup, convenient for me to connect PS4, laptop to OLED TV.Again convenient for me to switch between PS4 and laptop connected to 1 TV. Connection is seamless..

This item is a great value and easy to use and setup. But everytime I touched it or bumped it even a little the monitor would go black then a few seconds later it would come back on. It was acting like it had a very loose connection. Maybe I had a dud.
