very cute doll
I bought this doll for my 8 mo old grandson who absolutely loves Elmo on Sesame Street. At first he was scared of the doll then I would bring it out every once in a while and he would just stare at it. Now at 10 months old, he loves Elmo but it still scares him when Elmo talks. It's a very cute doll, but I would recommend it for a little older child. We have put Elmo away again for a little bit longer and see if time will help as my grandson gets a little older, we will bring it out again.UpdateMy grandson absolutely loves this Elmo dollHe sings (hums) the ABC song with ElmoWe also bought this doll for our other grandson who is 1 yr at present and he also just loves this doll. It is kept in his crib and you can hear him playing with Elmo whenever he wakes upI would highly recommend this doll for babies 1 yr +

Perfect
This product was perfect. Cheaper than at walmart at the time i purchased it. Sings a few different songs and is soft to the touch. My one year old LOVES it and clung to it the moment i had freed it from its box. But thats what i noticed its only downfall... It sheds... Not a little either... Elmos face and hands shed so bad i thought hed soon be bold but after i gave him a wet wipe bath, after begging my one year old to hand hin over, the shedding has ceased.

My son loves this
I bought one of these a few years ago when my son was 2. It was his favorite toy. Unfortunately another kid at his daycare threw his in the garbage for some reason. Needless to say, we told him that Elmo was visiting Oscar the Grouch and we got him the replacement one. It was the same as his old one. He knew it was a new one (hint for parents where their kid had a favorite toy get more than one and swap them out every so often so they both get the same wear and tear so you can have a backup in case one gets lost). He loves the replacement Elmo.My daughter got the one with the green shirt and she isn't as fond of Elmo so if giving a a gift make sure the kiddo likes Elmo.

One year old Christmas gift!
My little granddaughter loves this!! Elmo sings the ABC song and it's catchy, I don't find it annoying. She loves it and I think she's learning from it...."LMNOoooo"....She's had it since December, it's still playing and still really cute and we are almost to May. A favorite for my baby girl.

Great toy for the price point - Elmo teaches the ABCs!
Overall, a pretty good toy especially considering the price point! My 17 month old daughter likes it, so how could I not review positively? I would recommend it for any Elmo-obsessed child. The button to activate Elmo's voice is located in his chest. It is a big button and pretty easy to find, and I feel that is a definite plus since my daughter is able to do it herself. The doll is soft, but I wouldn't necessarily call it cuddly. The eyes are made of hard plastic, the body contains a hard voice/battery box, and the mouth is also hard and stuff. Hugging any of those parts is not comfortable, not to mention the fact that hugging could also trigger some talking/singing. (clearly not a toy for bed or naps)I am giving 4 stars because I don't think the quality of the plush is the best. Nothing that my daughter cares about, but the seams on the shirt are uneven, the legs are really limp because they lack the appropriate amount of stuffing, and pieces of Elmo's fur can easily be pulled out. When activated, Elmo will either sing the ABC song or say one of the below phrases:- Oh Hello, Elmo wants to sing with you.- Oh Hello, Wanna Sing with Elmo?- Sing with Elmo! Then sings the ABC song- Let's Sing! Then sings the ABC Song- Let's Sing the Alphabet! Then sings the ABC Song- A is the first letter in Abby's name- Elmo loves the letter E because E is the first letter in Elmo's name- What's the first letter in your name?- B is the first letter in Big Bird's name- C is the first letter in Cookie Monster's nameAfter a few seconds of inactivity, Elmo will automatically say "Thank you for singing with Elmo"One other thing to note is that Elmo's shoes and clothing are not removable. I think this is a good thing because there are less pieces to get lost, but my daughter seems to get frustrated with this. She is recently into trying to put her shoes on and after identifying Elmo's shoes, she really wants to try to take them off.

Well loved by a raving Elmo fan
Our toddler developed a fascination for Elmo (aka "Melmo"), despite having never seen Sesame Street. Kudos to you, Sesame Street marketing team. Anyway, we picked up this doll as a distraction for an upcoming trip, hoping it would buy us some time on the plane. She was great and we didn't have to bust it out until the return trip, at which point her eyes lit up and she gave Elmo a big hug. At least 5 or 10 minutes of play time ensued and more importantly - meltdown averted! Elmo has entered her 3 doll bedtime menagerie, so 5 stars according to the toddler.Cons? Our daughter doesn't seem that interested in the actual voice/ABC part yet, she's more interested in the doll itself. I imagine that just gives us some more longevity as she starts to pick up the alphabet. Another review noted that the mouth is permanently agape (it's rigid, not soft, and does not close), but it's not as hard as I thought it might be - it's not a problem at all, just FYI if that's not what you want. The voice module was easily removable BUT since it does not have an off switch, we simply left it at home for the trip. Who doesn't put an off switch on these things?

Great for a child that loves Sesame Street
I gave this to my 1 year old grandson for Christmas. He does not stay interested in things for too long yet. But, he does love hearing Elmo talk and recognizes that it is Elmo from Sesame Street. It is cute and I know as he gets older he will appreciate it even more. It is well made and not too loud or annoying for adults.
