Measure first
*Updated review, still 5 star*So, I've been using these for quite a while now. Shortly after my initial review I did find a way to use them, I just forgot to update the review. As you can see from the image, I modified my filter, which allowed me to use the intake screens. It turns out the intake on this filter perfectly accepts the Y split of a sponge filter (the type that has two cylinder sponges), and the intake screens fit right over those, where the sponges originally were. Everything just worked out perfect, and I've been very pleased with the performance of these screens.*Original review, 5 star*These don't work for me, but I'm not going to leave a low review for something that was my fault.I ordered these to put on an Aqueon QuietFlow LED 20 so that I could use it in my shrimp tank. I couldn't find a tape measure when ordering, so I eyeballed it and thought it would work. These are far too small to work with that filter, with or without the gasket. The quality of the product is great though, no sharp edges anywhere, and no residual oil smell coming off of them. Even though they were only shipped in an envelope, they weren't damage or smashed either.Just make sure you measure first, don't be a dumb dumb like this guy. These are far smaller than what the images make them look. I'll be shopping for a new filter now. Not that that's a bad thing, you can never have too much fish stuff right?

It’s secure & doesn’t change water intake.
I have a AquaClear 50. It slid up the intake tube but left an opening, so I covered it with a cut polishing pad.Has not affected the water flow.

easier to clean than foam
I love these, they look so nice in my tank and are easier to clean and more attractive that the foam covers. I have 2 Aquaclear 70 gallon filters, and you just have to take the little rubber piece out to fit the tubes.

Dimensions NOT As Described
For the larger size, the ID of the gasket is NOT 16mm. It is 14mm ...and those 2mm's make all the difference. These will not fit Fluval or API Filstar filter and probably many more.

These fit Aquaclear 50s great! Needs some help though with QC though.
These fit my AQ50s without much fuss, which means they should fit the sizes under the 50 as well. For the other ones you would have to enlarge the white rubber grommet that holds them on.One of mine had a small burr where the two mesh seams met up. I knocked it right down with a small file in about 30 seconds, but keep an eye out for that if you get these. It would tear a fish up pretty easily. I'm curious to see how much debris gets caught up in these, but at least with the Aquaclear popping the U tube / extension off is really easy. I'm going to go with 3 stars because I shouldn't have to DIY my own new product, even though it wasn't a big deal, it could have been to someone else.

Not so good :(
The insert that holds the tube in breaks after only removing and re-inserting a tube twice. It needs to be made out of more flexible rubber or plastic.

Great Intake Stainer
I was very happy with these intake stainless! I had to drill out the strainer hole a bit in order for my inlet tubs to fit but it works perfect! I run 2 Rena Filstar XP4 canister filters on my 75 gal African Cichlid tank.

Wish I had been using this years ago.
I love this cover for the filter intake tube for my shrimp 10gal tank. It is far better solution than the sponge cover I was using. I initially purchased the smaller size first but fund it was too small. I got the larger size and had it the next day (awesome!). I put it on and within an hour shrimp were all over it. It has been on for days now and I haven't had to rescue any juvenile shrimp from being pulled into the bottom part of the end cap. I wish I had come across this years ago! If you have shrimp and use hang over the back kind of filter you need this!

Fitting on an aquaclear 50
These fit on an aquaclear 50, but it’s a really tight and difficult fit if you just try to jam it on. However, if you heat up the silicone with really hot water (near boiling, the hottest setting on your tap should do) the silicone becomes much more flexible and fitting becomes much easier. These are much nicer than the sponge guards.

Not what it was originally intended for but ...
I looked this up and thought I wonder if? ... Sure enough if you remove the rubber plug on top and attach the Fluval 70 Intake tube and then attach the Python Hook. You have a way to remove and return water to your tank without fear of sucking up shrimp (adult ones that is for babies fill it with floss media which slows down but is very effective). I have no idea what these are originally designed for but they work perfectly with a small piece of electrical tape (water-resistant) to hold it in place.
