I use the the Fatmax XI for leather crafting. It is built exactly the way a fixed blade knife should be. It is sturdy in the hand. Just by the feel of the construction, one can tell this is a tool that is made to last.Once fixed, the blade doesn't budge. Ergonomically, the blade is positioned at the perfect angle to make an easy cut through even 10-12 ounce leathers. This makes the Fatmax perfect for making long, precision cuts. Changing blades is a breeze and can be done in a matter of seconds when they do become dull.

You will not find a better fixed blade knife and if you're a roofer, this is the knife for you. I started with a small order of 6, figuring that they would work well and if they didn't, it wasn't a loss. I just placed an order for 20 more so all of my crew members will have one. For the gentle homeowner who wants a retractable blade, this isn't the right knife. For a home improvement professional who regularly wears a tool belt where you don't have to worry about slicing yourself up, you will not find better.

This box (utility) cutter is well-made (the comparatively higher price is worth it), feels great in one's hand, and it generally worth the money. The only thing to be aware of is that, unlike most other high-end box cutters I've used, the blade does not retract. So, storing it (to avoid dulling the blade) and careful handling of it when retrieving from storage (to avoid cutting oneself) is important. IIf the blade retracted, it would be perfect. I think it doesn't b/c the tool can handle other blades besides just a short, standard, "box-cutting" blade. BTW, this is my bad: the description states "fixed-blade", but it's easy to miss; hence this review.

Best knife ever...im a roofer ive used lots of knives, either the blade pulls out or it takes to long to change blades. This one is nice holds a good tight blade, ez blade change, and good and meaty grip. Unfortunately i let somone else use it a week after i got it and they lost it! Now i cant find another to replace it with

Item came quickly and was exactly as described. In my work I use this knife constantly and ordered this specifically because it is no longer available for purchase from retail stores in Canada, however it is one of the best knives on the market for what I do.
