Yes - It provides immediate feedback if/when your hands drop more than several inches and do not take a direct path to the ball. We've actually had hitting coaches in several mlb organizations tell us they use it specifically for this purpose with some of their younger players.

Q: Will this fit an 8 year old?

The plastic "rail" is designed to fit any size/type of bat, and the arm band will adjust to fit any size arm; however, younger/smaller/less experienced players may lack the coordination that is necessary to use it properly. That said, we regularly hear from parents/coaches who are having success with players as young as 5 yrs old -- Our general recommendation is to have reasonable expectations when using it with players younger than 9 yrs old.

Q: Can this be used for adult slow pitch to working on hiting?

Yes, we have many experienced softball players using the product and telling us the same swing mechanics/concepts apply slow pitch softball
