BucillaBeginner Mini My First Cross Stitch Kit, 3", Flowers, 3"

I bought this for my (adult) sister-in-law who wanted to begin cross stitch. The pattern is cute, but if you're buying this for a REAL beginner (like I did), make sure you're there to actually get them started or send them some YouTube tutorials. A beginner couldn't have started it with the minimal directions on their own. Also, make sure to save enough money to buy them an embroidery hoop, a decent needle, and a needle threader. As far as a kit goes--it has the thread, cloth, and pattern, but that's about it. And the "frame" is laughable at best--it's really just a plastic circle with a cardboard circle that fits in it. HOWEVER, it IS inexpensive and for someone that may or may not like counted cross stitch, a good primer.

I bought this for my nine year old daughter. The kit itself was great for the price, more than enough thread, fabric, little plastic frame, needle but the instructions were unclear for a beginner who has never done cross stitch. I had to help her and I have never done counted cross stitch before. The instructions also did not tell you how to do one of the stitches necessary to complete the project, but we found that info. on you tube. If you already know how to cross stitch and wanted to use this kit to teach a child it would be fine - very cute.

The chart is so faint even with enlarging on a copier you can’t see the backstitching design. I have used a magnifying glass and still can’t see the dark green backstitching pattern. Also the teal border on the left does not match the colored picture. I have had to rely on the kit’s colored picture.

I got this for my six year old daughter. She has taken an interest in sewing and thought she would like to learn how to cross stitch as well. Overall the instructions are easy to follow. As a six-year old, she has needed some help, but seems to pick up on it quite quickly. It is a bit smaller than I expected, but that was mostly my fault for not reading the product details better. Overall, I am totally satisfied with my purchase for the reason that I purchased it.

very hard to thread the string and not useful or functional for a first time user or young child. it has no guides and simply doesn't work well.

I knew this would be a counting cross stich before I bought it. However, for a My First Cross stitch, I think a screen print would be easier for my 7 year old after working with her. Overall, we are going to get through it, and she's having fun.

Ordered this as a gift for my granddaughter who is just learning to cross stitch. I thought I was ordering the unicorn, which is the image online. However I received a flower kit. Not worth returning for such an inexpensive item. A little disappointing since I think she would prefer the unicorn. Her birthday is later this month so I won't know the quality until we start working on it together. Still looks to be a good first project for an 8 year old.

This kit is not for beginners. There is no hoop to hold the piece and beginners need that. The cloth count is too small as well for young people just learning. The directions are vague.

For a first cross stitch this is a bit hard. I have had to put it away until my granddaughter is older.

Not for a Beginner. Not for anyone. Floss was broke and poor quality. I had to give my adult daughter DMC floss or other brands, just to do the project. Fabric was too tiny to cross stitch, I again, had to cut some of my own fabric to give her. I have heart pictures that I could have given her to stitch. I paid alot for just a needle.. I really hope Bucillareads this message and contacts me I hate losing faith in companies in my cross-stitch world

Incredibly small & disappointing.This was purchased as one of several Christmas gifts for a 6 year old, but ended up not gifting it as it's so dinky & futzy that I felt it would have come across as cheaper than a dollar store gift.Had I been aware of how crappy this item was, I wouldn't have even paid a single dollar for it. Complete cheap junk.

Small. The instructions are not that easy to follow. I feel like if you had someone with you who knew cross stitch this would be a good teaching tool, not as good if you’re teaching yourself.

11 year old granddaughter loves crafts, this is small but she loved it. It is her first try at cross stitching. Packaged well, and came in good time. I have bought more, and would buy again.
