Upgrade Your Dust Collection
I had the old Harbor Freight dust collector with a plastic bag and a cloth filter for years. I finally converted it to a two stage filter (there are countless YouTube tutorials showing how to do this). This little gadget might seem a bit expensive for a piece of plastic, but it works flawlessly, and it is a critical part of the process!I found a metal 55 gallon barrel, with lid, on marketplace. I used a saber saw to cut the hole in the lid and bolted the cyclone to the top. I disassembled my dust collector and converted to a two stage filter. Now, practically every bit of sawdust drops into the 55 gallon barrel. I got a good quality filter to replace the cloth bag (again, find a good YouTube video on converting to a 2-stage dust collector). My shop is cleaner than it has ever been. The barrel is easy to empty, and the cyclone doesn't let sawdust get through to clog the filter. If you are considering this upgrade, do it.

Everything I Hoped For
I had the Jet which I really liked actually, despite the bad reviews. I have a Camvac 90L high pressure system and finally got the nanomax filter upgrades for the motors. Not having a three stage filter system on the machine anymore, I needed something better at stopping the fine dust from reaching the extractor itself. I didn’t want to go cheap and Oneida has a good name and are known for quality products. After putting it through its paces for a couple months and opening the Camvac, I was very pleasantly surprised at the amount of fine dust getting through. It was next to nothing. I have helical blades in the planer and jointer and I was doing a lot of dados on the router table, all of which creates fine dust. I’m extremely happy with the build quality, there’s no fear of the high pressure collapsing the unit. Beyond that, the performance is actually better than my expectations. I reworked my entire ducting system and location of the extractor and cyclone, so I’m very glad that all the work was worth it. It would’ve been a shame to do all that and get the same results as the jet. I wasn’t overly concerned with loss of suction due to it being a larger unit than the Jet, but any worry I did have wasn’t warranted. I’m sure it has more to do with the high pressure system, regular collectors I know suffer more

Great mod for my ShopFox dust collector.
I wasn't confident this would actually work as I hoped, but it turned out to be a significant improvement for my ShopFox 1 HP machine. I added the Super Dust Deputy in line ahead of the suction connection of the ShopFox, and also converted the bag filter on the existing machine to a pleated filter that Grizzly offers. It's a direct replacement. My concern was that the cyclone would create more resistance in the suction, which it does, but the pleated filter more than offsets that with its significantly lower resistance than the OEM filter bag. Net result is that the system works WAY better than before, and it's no longer subject to clogs due to larger chips from the jointer and planer. The collector could not handle the planer discharge at all prior to the modifications, now it's no problem and I have far less dust and dirt in the shop. Very pleased with the outcome and performance for a just 1 HP machine. The cyclone is well worth it!
