Bush's Best Vegetarian Baked Beans

I've always loved Bush's beans but could never find the 8.3 oz size cans in most grocery stores, at least the vegetarian version. The big cans didn't work well for me because I'd have them for a meal but then not finish them up soon enough. This is the perfect size for a meal with rice or as a side dish. I love the flavor and texture. I tend to like food on the sweet side so the sweetness of these beans fits my taste buds. If you don't like sweet type beans these may not be for you. They have that old style "Boston Baked beans" taste I remember my mom making when I was a child. Loved them then, love them now.

My original review with product photos didn't pass review, so I am re-reviewing without photos. These are my husband's favorite beans, and these small cans are perfect because if he wants a single-serving it's super-convenient and not wasteful. The beans are small white and whole, not broken up or smashed, so good texture. Light tomato flavor, not spicy, and they are vegetarian - no meat. The 12-pack arrived in original mfg packaging with long best-buy dates, so in addition to the great price per can, I can keep these on the pantry shelf for a long time (not that they will be sitting that long). Excellent value!

I really love these beans. So convenient to heat and enjoy, or add to recipes. I will say these are the classic vegetarian style and so they don’t have the tang of bacon or other added flavors, but that’s actually good because I can add my own flavors when I want. I happen to appreciate natural honey, so I can just add a bit of honey. Or sometimes I might add the tang of a bit of ketchup. At any rate, these are excellent, good quality, and I do recommend them.
