Read Aloud Bible Stories: Volume 1

Almost 40 years ago I received this book at my baby shower. Honestly, when I thumbed through it, I didn't think it was all that. But when our son was a toddler, this was his absolute favorite book. It's so simple, but that's what makes it so powerful. The illustrations are more modern than I was accustomed to, but they really appealed to our son. My husband (a preacher) was so impressed, he bought the rest of the books in the series. Now it's my go-to book for baby showers and I bought this one to donate to our church nursery.

The illustrations look really roughly drawn. I know that's the style, but it's not really eye catching for kids.

My grands love this Bible story book and beg me to read the stories over and over. I'll be ordering other volumes soon. This is a valuable tool to help young children understand the Bible.

My daughter was engrossed in the huge, full page pictures. There are only 5 stories in the book and even though each story may be 30 pages, there are so few words that it goes quickly. So you may want to go ahead and buy all 5 volumes if you read books nightly!

For my granddaughters

I grew up reading this book, and now read it to my son. It has simple drawings but powerful messages/lessons from the Bible broken down for a toddler or small child to understand. Some people are overly sensitive at the character’s skin color. There are books with only African American characters that myself and my son enjoy just as well, and would never imagine to go on that book’s page and complain about that. Well written, good book for children.

We love these books in our family! My son began receiving them in his first year of life. I didn't read them much at first because as an adult, reading them feels a little awkward to me. However, once my kids started requesting them, I read them and I loved THEIR response so much more than my own experience reading them (there are 5 in total, I believe). My kids can now tell whole stories out of the books. They LOVE hearing the same stories over and over again and I love that they crave hearing Bible stories on their level. My favorite part about the books is that you never see Jesus' face. You are always left to imagine what his face looks like and not have an image given to you. Thank you for these books. If you continue making them, we will continue to buy them.Our last purchase of this book was a birthday gift for a 2-year-old. I hope she enjoys it!

We started reading this series to my daughter when she was a little over 1 year old. As a 2 year old, she now begs for "Bible." We recently bought the rest of the series, and these are usually the first books she gravitates to during story time. The books are large, but the simplistic wording & illustrations allow us to get through the entire book at a pace that keeps her interest. In contrast, I find that many Bible story books out there seem geared for older children and are far too wordy to hold a toddler's interest. These are a great introduction to the Bible for little ones, although I wouldn't recommend it for children around 5 years or older due to their simplicity.

Great stories great pictures

My expectations have been exceeded, with this book and I will buy the other volumes (though I’ll watch for them to go on sale)… these have been such a delight to read to my toddler, after purchasing them, after a recommendation by the author of “Read-aloud Revival”.The language used is so descriptive and such a comforting way to introduce stories about Jesus, with my child.Highly recommend !

Beautiful illustrations of bold images, great for young children. This book was a favourite of my child who has now got it for her own child!
