Good option to carry in a purse and fits small hands
I have purchased 7 of the LE launchers because of their higher capacity and FPS-- all work fine and were gifted to my family. They are a quality piece of equipment and are kept on standby for home safety. The LEs are too big for women to easily travel with. I bought the CL for my daughter to carry in her purse, it is quite a bit smaller, launches a smaller projectile and has two magazines. I was going to gift a USCCA insurance policy since she is currently CC permitted but for the same price of a yearly premium I could buy this and hopefully she will trade carrying the small 9mm semi and put this in her purse. I am not against rapists and murders being made unalive but the USCCA seminar disclosed that the average cost of a legal defense against a prosecutor in a legitimate self defense situation is 250K. The Byrna takes that penalty off the table not to mention the civil suit that is sure to follow a firearm discharge which could bankrupt you and ruin your life for at least several years. Obviously I am from a regulated State but even in a stand your ground state there are serious consequences for using a firearm. Anyway, the CL is nicely made, I fitted a petite laser to its dovetail underneath and I have test fired it to ensure laser accuracy and function. You won't get two full magazines out of one co2 cartridge but it will shoot one magazine with 5 balls completely. There is no safety but the trigger is NOT easy to pull, so thats the safety - you are not accidently going to pull the trigger by mistake taking it out of your purse. The trigger is not sensitive, so practice using it by pointing it at the target and just pull as hard as you can as fast as you can. Accuracy is not important in the situation you will be using this and good thing with the trigger pull length and resistance. The laser is key- hold the red light on the subject and keep firing- after five, start running and get where you need to be. I have been hit with one pepperball and I can attest that very few attackers will remain a threat after getting hit with five of them. Don't plan to stick around and reload-it takes too long.

Works Great!
Nice option for personal protection. Quality is top notch and functionality is smooth & reliable. It figures that Californians aren’t allowed to purchase the pepper or CS projectiles since Gavin doesn’t trust nor want his lowly subjects to be able to defend themselves.

Best purchase yet!
My Byrna CL is lighter than my Byrna SE, and much more comfortable in my hand bag. I purchased a holster which is light weight also. I’m very happy with my purchase, my Byrna CL goes everywhere with me and I definitely feel safer. Thank you Byrna!

Great
Really good. This pistol is compact and easy to conceal, but that also comes with the price of not having a safety. Although on the other version if you pull the trigger while the safety is on it just punctures the canister anyway so I guess there's no point in having a safety on these. It comes with extra canisters and mine in particular was used so it came with a ton of extra canisters and ammo. I bought the larger magazine that holds 5 rounds like the other versions because this one only holds 4. Also, instead of using the plastic rounds I bought aluminum rounds. I don't know how effective this will be if someone was attacking me, but hopefully the upgrades I've made we'll make it a little bit better.

Lower velocity than advertised
Amazon product description list velocity of 400 fps. The actual Byrna case list velocity at 320 fps. I selected this model because 400 fps is same velocity listed for larger models. May have chosen a different model had I known it was less. BEWARE, once delivered you are stuck with your decision, no returns. Very disappointed I didn’t receive the performance thst was advertised. Launcher accuracy is better than expected. I do not like the magazine design. It dumps ALL projectiles way too easily. I doubt a second magazine would remain loaded if stored loose in a typical woman's purse.

Non-lethal protection
I have two small dogs that I walk 4 or 5 times a day around my neighborhood. I live in a hilly area that has a lot of coyotes, which can be very aggressive during mating season. I have run into them several times at night, and yelling, waving my hands did little to deter them, and I would have to back up and cut my walk short. I carry pepper spray, but I worry about back spray and getting it on myself and/or dogs. I did some research and came across the Byrna launcher. It is basically a small paint ball gun that uses CO2 cartridges for power. What makes the Byrna stand out is most devices like this that use CO2 require you to load and puncture the CO2 cartridge to make it ready, over time the CO2 can leak and when you go to use it you make find it won't work. The Byrna on the other hand does not puncture the Co2 cartridge until you pull the trigger so don't have to worry about an empty/leaky CO2 cartridge. It is extremely well made and is very accurate. The only con is the price, it is not cheap but for me worth the cost for something (non-lethal) that I can rely on to protect myself and animals. One other thing, it is very loud when fired, some to be aware of, which can be good (scare off coyotes) or bad (scare the neighbors).

Well worth it
The only negative response I would say about the arrival is that the 3 capsules it comes with says it supposed to have (5) projectiles but each one only had 4. Everything else was perfect.

MAJOR PROBLEMS
Iv had experience using the CL launcher before because my brother has one. When I received the launcher, I loaded it up and decided to shoot some kinetic rounds. After the first 2 shots, the gun wouldn’t shoot. Keep in mind this is straight out of the box. Upon further investigation, and multiple cartridges of C02, there is an internal issue. One of the “U” shaped pieces in the back of the gun is getting stuck on a plunger spring. I filed a warranty claim not even week after I got it. A day went buy and I didn’t hear anything back from Byrna so I called and talked to someone. I was in a bind cause I do field work in awful sketchy areas deep in the Appalachian mountains without cell service and wanted to have this launcher as a backup for aggressive animals (mostly pitbulls). I asked if it would be quicker to either send it back to Byrna and get a replacement or return through Amazon. The rep told me they would have to look at it and figure out the issue and see if it’s fixable and if it wasn’t, then they would send me another one. Like I said… I was in a time crunch and don’t have time to wait a week or two to get another one so I opted to try and return to Amazon. Turns out… it cannot be returned to Amazon. I still haven’t even got a reply from my warranty claim and no return label or anything. You know if I pay almost $600 for a higher end pepper ball launcher… I would expect it to be in good working condition when I receive it. At the very least I would of liked to have a rep reach out to me by now. I am very disappointed in the customer service and how they have handled my situation. I will attach pics of the part that is having problems.
