Good quality capo for 12 string guitar
I have used shubb capos for years so i was interested in getting one for a newly acquired 12 string guild that i bought. The photo shows the difference in capo contact surface length compared to the shubb 6 string capo that i have owned for years. The 12 string version is the longer one on the right. The length difference is about 1/4 inch and does make a difference in making sure all the strings are covered on the 12 string. As a guitarist of over 30 years i am pretty much sold on the slightly more expensive shubbs mainly for this reason, that the construction allows you to adjust the amount of pressure put on the strings by way of a screw. This design means that you can adjust the pressure to hold down the strings on the desired fret without putting so much pressure that it greatly detunes the strings. The one handed capos with a strong spring hold the strings down so tightly that it detunes the strings and also makes tuning them difficult because of how much you have to turn the key to fight against that extra pressure. Tuning a 12 string guitar is difficult enough! Also the one handed competitor capos may be so strong that they put a dent in the neck on the backside. These are excellent capos and i highly recommend them.

Shubb 12 string capo
If you're going to use a capo on a 12 string, it must be one of these. "trigger style capos won't firmly hold their place. This is the only kind that really works, and adjustability and quality is excellent. nuff said.

Does its job
Good looking, easy to use capo. I have cheaper ones and more expensive ones, but I'm a fan of this one.

Very good capo for 12-string guitars
I think I've tried just about every capo made for a 12 string, and in my experience Shubbs simply work the best. Other capos worked just fine on some frets, but didn't have adequate tension on other frets (particularly the first and second frets). The Kyser 12-string capo didn't have enough tension on any fret to hold down all the strings without buzzing.I love Shubbs in general and the 12-string Shubb capos in particular because I can adjust the tension to fit my guitar(s), and I never have to worry about retuning after applying the capo. It goes on and comes off just as quickly as a clamp-on capo like the Kyser, but you have to put it in your pocket of place it on a music stand when not in use. I use this capo regularly and haven't found it to be a problem at all.I bought this brass capo because it's the old Standard design. New Shubb Standard models now have a wheel like the Shubb Deluxe models. I've tried the new Standards (made in China), and they just don't work as well as the Deluxe models (still made in the USA). So I assumed this brass old-style Standard would work as well as I remembered. This capo does work, but unless the tension is just right the lever on the capo can easily flip open if I brush it with my fretting hand. My other Standards aren't this finicky. The only difference between my old Standards and this new brass Standard is that this capo has a rubber nub on one of the arms to prevent the capo lever from hitting bare metal when the capo is applied, and that's why the lever can flip open if the tension is too low. This isn't a problem on my old Standards without the rubber nub. So if I had it to do over again (and this would be my recommendation) I'd spend a few more dollars and buy the Shubb Deluxe for 12 strings.

Great for 12-string acoustic
Got this capo for my new 12 string acoustic guitar because my other one wasn't adequately fretting all strings, and it works great!

WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO TRY SHUBB?!?
I absolutely love this capo! I now have 4 of them. I gave one away to a friend because I wanted him to have a really good capo. Once you get used to it, you can handle it with one hand. It's easy to adjust to your guitar neck. AND, it DOES NOT put the guitar out of tune. This why I gave one to a friend - his capo would always push the guitar out of tune, so he'd have to bring 2 of them to a gigi - one tuned for a capo and one without. Now, he can just take one guitar and he Shubb and he's set!
