"Dong Yi", a historical epic helmed by famed director Lee Byeong-hoon whose previous works including "Jewel in the Palace" ("Dae Jang Geum") and "Heo Jun", stars top Korean actors Ji Jin-hee and Han Hyo-joo. The first episode of the show, about Dong Yi who grows up to become Choi Suk-bin, a consort of King Sukjong and the mother of King Youngjo during the Chosun Dynasty, featured the life of young Dong Yi played by child actress Kim Yoo-jeong. Set during the reign of King Sukjong in the Joseon dynasty, the story focuses on Dong Yi, a water maid who gains the trust of Queen Inhyeon and later the favour of the king when he is moved by her prayers for the health of the Queen during the court disputes caused by Jang Hee Bin. Dong Yi becomes a concubine with the rank of sook-bin and bears a son who will later become the 21st king of Joseon, Yeongjo.

Not that bad
I didn't have time to try the DVDs and i am trying now since I am asked to post a review. I am glad I was asked. Mac BlueRay ray player doesn't read the discs, only VLC will. The titles of the DVDs are just numbers. It is really weird. Definition is terrible on my 30" screen (which is quite normal due to the format) but perfect on my portable 11" Multi-zone DVD/BD player though. I will try to convert the discs to high definition but not sure of the result. Anyway, I am not extremely happy with the way the series has been ripped on DVDs but at least, I can watch it. They are too many DVDs to check if all of them are working fine. I hope so. If not, I will update my review.

The case is great, videos are ok
The case is sturdy and nice for the cost. The options of Chinese, Korean and English subtitles, and audio in Korean or Chinese is great. There are some dvd's that have some video mishaps, but otherwise the copies are decent quality, hence not a 5 star and the captions run too fast and skips at times, but thankfully I know enough Korean to squeak by. I love the series, but I hated not knowing if I was missing parts through streaming. I was, so it's nice to see it. I don't have koreaTV on cable, so this is nice to watch when my hubby ain't home, so he can't complain of my hobby of watching foreign films. :)

Unless you are fluent in Korean avoid this DVD set like a plague.
Ordered on Monday and received it on Friday. Came sooner than expected. I thought I was buying a region 1 DVD set. Received a Singapore version instead because the US version is out of print. Okay, so I understand that. I am lucky my first language is Korean otherwise I wouldn't be able to understand what the story is. The subtitles mostly are good but sometimes they skip. It is an excellent K-Drama. One of the best out there. However, unless you are fluent in Korean do not buy. Gave 3 stars for skipping subtitles and deceiving customers with region 1 description. Bad business practice.

Do not Recommend Buying - Lots of pixelization; hard to view and hear
40% of the first 4 discs had highly pixelized video and audio and skipped. So it was difficult to view and hear what was going on, whether one understands Korean or relies on the English subtitles as we did. I checked and the discs themselves were not scratched so it must be the video recording itself. Packaging was very nice but at this point, I do not care about that if I can view the story!I would recommend buying from another source than this seller.

A good story about a lowborn girl who made it big.
I loved it! I loved the whole story of Royal Noble Consort Suk Bin (Dong Yi). While I know some of it is unknown, it is a great story. If anyone likes foreign-language television shows or movies I would highly recommend this. You will laugh, and you will cry and you will cheer people on.

Dong Yi - Great. Series
I love this series. It is about a king and his consort and the love they have for each other. The episodes contain suspense, action , drama and tears. Worth every dollar for the box set! You won’t be disappointed!
