Nivea Pure Talc 400Gm

Wonderful talcum powder and smells fantastic.

I was taught to draw the Art Center way mixing ground up NuPastel and talcum powder and to apply it to vellum or marker paper with a Webril Wipe. Because of all the talcum powder on the surface of the paper I got accustomed to my hand gliding across the paper when I stroked my lines. I can feel any change of curvature in my lines with my wrist. I got to the point that I draw long, sleek boats by hand without ship's curves. A decade ago I switched to drawing on a digital glass covered Cintiq instead of vellum. I now have to powder my hands instead of the glass "paper" to get that smooth stroke I am used to. Using actual talcum powder instead of cornstarch doesn't attract ants in my office.

Hard to find real talc anymore. This stuff is great but way too expensive.

Talc has been in my family since my birth in the 1960's. And I'm sure much longer before that. I can't confirm all the bad hype since none of my family ever experienced the effects. Corn starch just doesn't work for me. The fine dust that gets everywhere and on everything, how is this a substitute?

I have been looking for a fragrance-free REAL talc to replace the Sutherland brand that is no longer available . This one's product image didn't show any fragrance, but the product received does have "parfum" on the label. That image is deceptive, imo. I'm doing a patch test to see if my skin can tolerate the (unnecessary) fragrance, and if I can, I'll keep it, but those who are highly allergic should stay away. The scent is quite strong too. If Nivea is reading this, I highly recommend that a company known for safe and low- or no-fragrance products offers a fragrance-free version of this product. Allergic or not, I don't know anyone who wants added fragrance anymore--just one more potential toxin to worry about

Not pure talc. Scented with a pungent perfume, inappropriate for male use.

I buy talc powder to deter ants from coming in my home. I sprinkle a hearty line out and outline my house with it and pour it inside my home in the cracks where ants come from outside my home. It does not kill ants, they just don't like to cross it. I don't think talc is a good idea if your pets can injest it, where you placed it. So be careful if that. There are several talc powders out there, but I feel better giving Nivea my money because they make nice face creams as well that I enjoy. So brand loyalty I suppose.
