This is a handy little device that detects mains voltage when you're working on electrical equipment. Indeed, its a great safety device when you incorrectly think everything has been turned off!There is a built-in LED flashlight which very useful while working in dark and poorly lit areas. The device comes with the 2 required AAA batteries.It is a tad cheap and cheerful but all works fine - so, no complaints!

I'm absolutely scared of anything electrical. The fear is totally irrational so I try to mitigate the risk by using this voltage tester. As it's battery powered, it's more sensitive than the usual screwdriver detector.I bought it to help me change a light fixture in my house. I trust it.

This tester is just right, it works very well. Even on the low setting it indicates on an ethernet cable when you touch it on the cable. I bought this after trying one of the red and black models with the lcd display that one is rubbish, being returned as defective.

In high sensitivity setting it beeps randomly, even if there is definitely no electricity and in the standard sensitivity setting it doesn't beep when there ARE live cables in the wall. At best: unreliable, at worst: Frankly it could be dangerous.

It is not as sensitive as my friends model, but it works fine still the same. Very happy with the tester, it is a bargain for the price :-)

I would not trust this product to stop me from being electrocuted. I purchased a pocket MW radio which is much better.
