Westcott Green Screen Digital Photography Kit (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I got this kit (and ended up purchasing a second one a week later) to use in my computer lab at school. I teach K-MS and it has been easy enough to use by itself with the younger students. However, with the older students, I go a bit more into digital photography and photo editing. For that, I have them edit the photos we have taken in front of the green screen with PaintShop Pro. We may then use the backgrounds that are included in the kit, but we will also insert the images of the kids into pictures they have created in another paint program. It's easy to do...there's a link to the video tutorial I made for my kids on my "Purple 'Puter Lady" blog. I sort-of seem to remember someone saying that you are limited to using only the pre-made backgrounds in the included software. You're not, you can have all sorts of fun with green screen photos as I show in the vid.I also seem to remember coming away from other reviews expecting that the green-screen cloth would be more substantial. Well, I suppose that is subjective. To me it's like a very lightweight cotton tablecloth. However, it does come with grommets in it for hanging...and it is that perfect green color. I did not notice, as other reviewers did, any undue number of offers to upgrade the software when I installed it. Perhaps they toned that down a bit in the version I have. The opportunity to upgrade certainly is there but it was not nagging. For my purposes, in the computer lab, the lite version is just fine.Pros:The software is crazy easy to use and 100 backgrounds are plenty to start with.Cons:The fabric is thin and hard to keep wrinkle-free.All-in-all, I think this is a pretty fair value for the money.

W// this purchase you get the basic abilities... anything extra, you have to upgrade... and the upgrade is e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e! First problem I had w// this is that fair skinned ppl or ppl w// blonde hair had a green spillage.... what I mean by that is when you import a new background and take away the green screen, you can still see a faint green hue in the hair of the person or on their skin... SO... you will either need to also invest in a blue screen for our fair skinned/haired ppl, or put at least 9ft between the subject and the green screen... you also want to make sure you have enough lighting on the screen... any shadowns that appear on the screen are not removed when you import your new background, and they stand out. I'm not in love w// this, but I needed something affordable and fast, and this does the trick. I like the screen it came w//, but it's cheap... not your "sturdy" muslin at all. It says it comes w// 100 free uploads, and I"ve messages customer service about it, but for the life of me I can't find them, and they aren't where the support team says they should be...

I purchased this product to use for fun and for work. The green screen concept isn't new - but it was to me. The software is simple to use and the ease of inserting the backgrounds is just as easy. I used the included green screen to take with us on our last camping trip and it worked out great! My only recommendation to folks who buy this product is that you need to buy the upgrade version right off the bat. The upgrade version has more backgrounds, more tools, etc. I can only say "trust me" you won't be sorry you spent another $100.00 dollars. It is worth it all.Steve Hillmann

I was thrilled to get this, but then when I was learning to use it I realized that part of the program is unusable UNLESS you upgrade. This is the first time I purchased a program and was unable to use all of it! Luckily, I have another program I use to do what this program will not do.Some of the backgrounds that came with this program I couldn't open, it said they were too large! So, I had to cut them down and put them back to use them.A good thing is that the screen and the workable part of the program does work well. I did put the green screen in the dryer to help removed wrinkles. That seemed to help.

Outstanding material for a backdrop -- wrinkles very little and gives a consistent smooth color. I haven't really used the included software (which seems somewhat limited), but the kit alone is well worth the price. It is (barely) large enough for an adult, but very flexible for children and product items. It also is a great base to use for widely-available digital backgrounds. It is also a highly portable kit. Highly recommended.

This is an easy to use green screen creation software pac. The only draw back to the Photokey 2 lite is that it is a bait to get you to buy the Full or Pro version. I suggest you check the specs before buying the lite. It keeps asking me if I want the "REAL" (Full or Pro) software. Oh - would you like to do that? That's an upgrade... The software works fine for what I use it for. I am a beginner. It is "entry level" which is fine - I wish it would stop pointing out to me I should buy the full package. I did not download a trial package - I bought a software package and a green screen muslin.

This product works great if you have a smooth, wrinkle free background. The software is very easy to use. When I first took it out of the package, the background had a few creases in it. I took a picture of my daughter and when I uploaded the image, a portion of the background was included with the cropped image of my daughter. After ironing the background, my pictures turned out perfectly.

i purchased this software and it came within couple of days which was great... i liked the idea of editing the picture as in diff backgrounds but... when it comes to adjusting the color, details to match the picture and the background to make it more realistic it tells you you need to upgrade to higher or later version, very frustrating that you cant do much even basic editing stuff.
