2 defective sets
i had orderd a set of [ high precision ] 5C collets and after I had received them I cleaned all the oil off in the parts washer and wiping them off with some carburetor cleaner to get them oil free some of the size marks we're coming off and after that I started looking for any obvious sizing defects or anything else so I pulled the drawbar out off my tool grinder and tried one of the new collets and it was loose tons of slop. ??? {great now what} I measured one off my old collets external threads 1.246 th. and it fit well very little slop so that the number im going with. high precision were any were from 1.226 th. - 20 th under sized to 1.223 th. - 23th under sized and when you only have 44 th. total between male and female threads that a big deal and if I didn't catch this mistake I could have stripped my drawbar or the collets or both . so sent them back and reordered the same brand { high precision } and when they came in I didn't clean the oil off I just measured them and they were 20 th. under sized as well. i hope they pull there act together. the price was great but if it's screwed up its not worth anything

Garbage surface finish, good enough for my use for collet blocks on a grizzly mill
Bought for using with a 5C hex and square collet chuck set for doing milling ops on round parts. Have not measured TIR but by the looks of the quality, would be surprised if they're as precise as they claim. External threads are ROUGH - change the inserts on your machinery! Lots of surface defects, nicks, and random voids all over, but grind quality is acceptable for the cost. Weren't bad enough to return, I guess that's an endorsement?

Works perfectly with Taig lathe 5C headstock
I purchased this collet set for the Taig lathe 5c headstock and they work perfectly. Each collet is packaged individually in plastic box and seeled in plastic bag. The quality is fantastic.

Good value, threads are rough.
I actually enjoy cleaning these collets up. The threads are full of dings and sharp burrs. I ended up using a triangular needle file to remove the “dings”. Then a medium slip stone to remove the sharp peaks of the threads. The grind seems to be pretty good. I hit the outside with 15 micron lapping film.

Zero complaints for the price.
The set I received was well-ground without burrs, although the threads were a little rough. Each collet came with its own plastic box, lightly oiled and wrapped in plastic. Concentricity was in the ballpark of 0.0003" to 0.0005" between collets as tested on a near zero runout taper, but what you get depends heavily on your collet bore and taper. Zero complaints for the price.

A must have
Its hard to find US made collets, even from MSC. The Interstates they sale have always been a bit on the undersize. These work perfect. 1" equals 1", not .995. Makes a big difference when loading.

Great inexpensive set!
Great price, TIR was less than .001 on all collets. Some inexpensive R8 collets have fitment issues with the index groove, these did not. Worked in multiple mills perfectly.

Great so far
Each came in a sealed plastic bad with oil and each in a plastic container. Examined every one and all appear well ground. Only used one so far and was perfect. 4 stars because I haven't used all yet.
