Cheap But Effective
When purchasing the Zoom H1n recorder, I had a choice of choosing a rigid one-piece mount for my digital camera or this Movo SMM5-B. I chose the latter because I wanted the flexibility of being able to position the recorder forward or backward relative to the camera. It certainly allowed for that. The slight springiness of this mount was slightly disconcerting when I mounted it to my camera but it is supposed to do that in order to reduce physical shock. It's also better for your camera's hotshoe. The best part is that my Zoom recorder didn't pick up any extraneous noises when recording through physical movement. So....5 stars!

Reducing handheld noise....
Bought to use with a Tascam DR-40X. Noise from handling the recorder while recoring can be a problem, even if you attach a handle to it. Using this makes a huge difference. It comes with adapters to match the European mic stand threads (3/8"), and a camera flash mount to the 1/4" threads on a the back of the Tascam. Good isolation while still providing a sturdy mount.

Guess what i do with this shock?
I have a GoPro on top of my Camera! and this shock rocks!. Very rigid for that camera weight.

A must-have for Zoom H3-VR
This thing is perfect for the Zoom H3-VR. This particular Zoom unit makes incredible stereo and ambisonic audio (if you're willing to sync in post) but is pretty darn sensitive to handling noise. This Move shock mount fixes the transmitted noise problem providing excellent isolation for any reasonable amount of movement. It also helps to move the mic high enough above the viewfinder on my Fujifilm XT-30 that I can get my head in there. With the mount, the conical Zoom and a dead cat windscreen, it's a pretty comical looking rig but that is completely beside the point. I can finally do on-camera (or on tripod or handgrip) recording using the fantastic audio qualities of the H3-VR with excellent shock and vibration isolation. And for short money to boot.

Well made but not sturdy enough for my purposes
I purchased this because I'm too cheap to buy a higher end product. I wanted to like it but the flexible arms are too weak to hold my Zoom H6 recorder. After about 10 minutes of use, the recorder leans over to the side. And if you're trying to "aim" the recorder/mic at a particular subject, that's a pretty big problem. I have a bunch of other Movo products and have always been happy, but this one just doesn't do it for me.

Effective in isolating handling noise. Excellent price-performance
I own a couple of these shock mounts and use them with Zoom H5 and Sony PCM-D100 recorders. The Movo SMM5 does what it is supposed to do: noticeably reduces handling (aka mechanically transferred) noise. I have taken mine to a dozen of field recording outings. So far, they are holding up pretty well: plastic parts look intact, all screws are in place, and the rubber pad on top is still grippy and properly attached to the base. Pros: * Effective in isolating the mechanically transferred noise * Materials and construction are adequate for the price. (Compare it to Rycote Portable Recorder Suspension if you wish 😉) * I like the sliding screw design of the recorder attachment. It really works securing a device at the balanced, center-of-mass position Cons: * I wish MOVO included 3/8" to 1/4" bushing. I use my SMM5's mounted on a tripod ball head, so a tiny 3/8" to 1/4" bushing would be a better alternative to the included bulkier cold shoe adapter Note: I have both Black and Red versions of the Movo SMM5. I am attaching photos of the Red version, but functionally they are exactly the same.

Werkt goed. Ik gebruikt hem onder een zoom h6. Werkt beter dan de shockmount van rycote die speciaal voor handheld fieldrecorders gemaakt is.

This mount is a good match to flat base hand-held recorders with standard quarter inch mounting sockets such as the Zoom H series or the Tascams. The large supporting plate and screw fitting gives a much more secure and compact attachment than the more common "cat's cradle" designs, and this inspires confidence for field use. When fitted to the hotshoe on a camcorder, the raised shape of the mount means it doesn't interfere with operation of the rear controls. But is it effective? When testing it using a sound recorder fitted to tripod stand and inflicting some fairly hefty bumps and drags onto the stand, I found this mount was reducing the noise of the shock events by around 20db. In the same tests, the cat's cradle shockmount was achieving around 22db reduction, so the cats cradle is just slightly better than this mount at the loud end of the range but both designs are very effective when considering more realistic shocks. If you have used the Zoom H1 range, you will know that they are very susceptible to even light handling noise. Using this mount on a short pole completely eliminates that problem and greatly improves the handheld recording quality. This shock mount is well made, more practical than the traditional shock mounts, quick to set up, inexpensive, and highly effective. For me it has instantly become a must-have accessory for the H1 range. Highly recommented.

Pratique mais un peu rigide

Reduces the noise transmitted to my Zoom H6 created by touching the tripod when panning or tilting during video recording. It's amazing how much it cuts down the noise.

Klasse Produkt!! Passt wunderbar zu meinem neuen Zoom H6studio. Ich empfinde es als hochwertig und als akustisch/mechanische Isolierung sehr funktional.
