Q: What gage of wire or string will fit through the hole in these beads?

1mm string will fit inside these pearls. I used them with satin rope and it turns out just fine.

Q: Will they sink in water ?

They're made out of acrylic (a type of plastic). So no, they won't, or at least shouldn't, sink on their own.

Q: Is the luster coating on top made of fish scale or mother of pearl mixture?

The pearls are plastic. Not cultured.

Q: Are these safe for the dryer?

You can put them in the dryer only if you are doing the very low heat or tumble dry but I suggest not because they can get scratches and lose their shine
