LOVE IT
I'm a huge wolverine fan and psychology fan. This puts them together and explores deeper levels of wolverine and is great cuz I got a great chance to explore and learn more about trauma which helped me with my own. It also brought me a deeper love of this complex character

It really made me think.
As someone who has identified with Wolverine since discovering him as a child roughly 30 years ago, this book helped me to examine myself as much as my favorite character. It is certainly a study of Logan, so I'll forgive little nitpicks like the author stating that one of Wolverine's first X-men teammates, Thunderbird, was Hindi and not Apache. Wrong Indian. There was heavy reference to the much reviled Origins movie, which no true fan accepts as having happened. Ergo, there was much reference to Dog being Sabretooth...which is simply not true as it is only made a thing in that hideous attempt at a movie. But the author did do plenty of research outside of the films, which I very much appreciate. There was much input from comic creators who brought this character to life.I enjoyed this book very much. And will likely read it again. High praise from someone who has completed a total of maybe six books in his forty-two years of life.

If one by now hasn’t at least a conversational knowledge ...
If one by now hasn’t at least a conversational knowledge of Marvel Comic’s lead character Wolverine, I’d hesitate to guess under what rock they live. I mean he debuted in 1974 and has experienced nothing short of a vertical popularity growth curve since his “rebirth” in 1982. Comics, graphic novels, movies, apparel, action figures, collectables, tote bags, beverage cups, wallets, Halloween costumes…the full monte, you name it he's on it!BUT….this book is something special and a legitimate “must have” for any Wolverine affectionato!!!With a psychological professionalism worthy of a textbook yet with a surgical precision conveyed in clear comprehensible English, psychologist Suzanna Flores painstakingly details what makes Wolverine what he is, what he isn’t, what makes that flawed anti-hero tick, and why he is found to be so compelling. No doubt about it, this book is a “must read” before your next cocktail party, date, class, Netflix selection or road trip. It’s a fascinating read, and an involving page-turner you’ll be hard pressed to put down.

Visceral, Incisive, and Insightful...............
This is an amazing work. That a psychological study of a comic character could prove to be so compelling in inspiring one to search ones own internal, emotional, and psychological states. I have long identified with the "hero" and/or "anti-hero", as well as those painted as "villains" when a compelling story or mythology plumbs the depths of their internal motivations, battles, and struggles. Great stories always add that element even within the context of fantasy, and this book explores that with depth and precision. I was consistently surprised (though perhaps I shouldn't have been) as to how exploring these elements led to my looking inward into the substance of my own emotional and psychological workings. That these modern myths can help us explore ourselves is one of the great reasons to immerse ourselves in them. The author has done fine work (and research) here, and I found this to be consistently compelling and insightful reading. Highly recommended.

Solid run through Wolverine's history, and mind
I got this book as a potential resource for a class I'll be teaching. Personality/social psych isn't my background so I thought the book had some good points and references. I also appreciated that it's recent and covers Wolverine's entire history, at least at a surface level, from Hulk 181 to Old Man Logan. That said, there's more of a focus on early 'loner' Logan and less on recent "is everywhere on every team" Wolverine. Overall, a good read if you're interested in Wolverine and/or the psychology of stress and trauma.

Finally!
I have been hoping for a book like this for years and years. Finally! Someone delivers, Dr. Suzana E Flores. When I first saw this book announced, I instantly preordered it. As soon as it arrived I tore into with my inner berserker rage eager to discover the knowledge that is laid before me. Wolverine is by far my favorite character and I connect with him on a very personal level. This book has opened so many doors for me that I have been searching for for some time. I cannot thank Dr. Flores enough for her work!
