The perfect charger for my uses
I bought this to replace a very old charger with no intelligence. While the old would charge battery's it would just keep charging them and not stop when the battery was full. So with this charger I can just leave the charger running and not worry about overcharging. The auto amp mode is nice as it will decide how much current it will use. It is a nice compact size and very light and pretty quiet compared to my old one would would loudly hum while charging. This one is so quiet that once it finishes charging the display goes off but then it enters pulse maintenance mode where is charges as needed which is great. It is not off just quietly monitoring and charging the battery. It is also about half the size of my old charger and weighs nothing. It has Velcro to keep the charging cables tied up when not in use. Clamp are not weak and appear well made and makes a good solid connection to the battery terminals. About the only thing I can say is once it goes into charge maintenance known as pulse it will not notice the battery is dropping in voltage. Say you want to run your vehicle in accessory mode to say use the wifi in the vehicle. Your battery will get drained till dead as it will be in maintenance mode which will only keep it topped off and not charge the battery so accessory will use more current then can be made up for.

Great Charger
Purchased this charger in 2019 and unit has worked flawlessly. Works on cars, trucks, ATV's, UTV's and side by sides.

Great device for the budget friendly mind.
Itโs smaller than it appears in the pictures and has a somewhat toy-like appearance. That being said, Iโm happy with the purchase; it does perform as described. Itโs easy to use and intuitive, though the instructions in the small fold-out manual are not laid out well, but enough to get you up and running, and the auto features work very well. It really is just connect the clamps to your battery terminals, red to hot and black to ground, plug the machine in to a standard AC power outlet, set the voltage for 6V or 12V, wait about 30 seconds, and the auto charger features take over from there. It does a comprehensive job of analyzing, preparing, conditioning, and charging. It shuts off automatically when the battery is fully charged and will not overcharge the battery. Set it up, turn it on, walk away, and return later. It is kind of a fire-and-forget-it device. Iโve used it on several batteries already, and itโs a little champ!

A Great Portable Charger
I was a bit concerned about buying this charger given its relatively low price. But, I am presently surprised. My car has a large battery and a lot of electronics. I had been taking a lot of short trips that I knew were not long enough or high speed enough to charge the battery. Sure enough, it was taking more cranking for the car to start. I didn't want to spend a lot because I don't often charge batteries. So I gave this a shot. It is compact and light, making it easy to carry and even keep in the car. Both the charging and power cables are of good length. I didn't actually measure them, but I would guess they are 4 or 5 feet each. After hooking it up, it immediately and correctly selected the battery type and charge voltage and amperage. It showed the battery was at 30%. It selected the slowest charging speed, which provides the best charging. An AGM battery, which my car has, should charge slow at low amperage. From 30% to fully charged, it took about 10 hours. After the charge, the car started immediately. The charger has an internal fan that came on automatically at some point during the charge and the charger was only moderately warm. Some reviewer, claiming to be an engineer, claimed this is just an old charger with "fluff" claims. Really? I have watched it go through the cycles and checked its output. It does exactly what is says it does. No, it (usually) will not charge a dead battery - something it CLEARLY states in the Amazon description. And, yes, when you buy through Amazon, it handles the returns, which for some reason annoyed that reviewer.

This Thing Saved 2 of My Batteries
I had a golf cart battery on my gas golf cart which was run down completely when the lights were left on. It would not take a charge with my previous "non intelligent" charger. I bought this charger and took it through the "repair" cycle and it totally reconditioned the battery and it is now back up to full strength and working perfectly. I had a similar issue with one of my 2 batteries in my Wake/Surf Boat. My primary battery wasn't taking a charge from the alternator and the electronic gauges would die from the low voltage. I tried my previous "non intelligent" charger and it would only go up to 70% capacity. I took the battery through the "repair" cycle and when it completed the battery was back to 95% capacity. This thing has definitely paid for itself by saving me from having to replace two batteries which were each less than 2 years old. This thing is so super light weight that I feared that it wouldn't do the job but, however it does it in such a light package, it just works.

Light weight and easy to use
This review is based on my initial use of the charger. I've only had it about a week, so I can't say anything about how it will hold up over time. I got this to replace an old (almost 30 years) Schumacher battery charger that stopped working. The first thing I noticed is that the Ampeak charger is much lighter in weight. Some of the weight difference is in the case, which is plastic on the Ampeak and was metal on the Schumacher. Despite being plastic, the Ampeak seems pretty sturdy. Using the Ampeak charger is about as easy as it gets: connect it to the battery and plug the charger in. The Ampeak detects the battery type and charge state and begins charging automatically after about 30 seconds using a multistage charge cycle (initial fast charge followed by slow tapering charge). If you want, you can set the charge rate manually, and it has a recondition mode (which I haven't tried). I am using the Ampeak mostly to recharge a deep cycle (marine) battery, and it works fine. One thing that confused me at first: when you initially connect the battery and plug in the charger it tells you the % charge and voltage of the battery; during the multistage charge cycle it also gives you a % but this is NOT the % charge of the battery, rather it seems to be the % of the charge cycle that has been completed.

Amazing Product... JUST SET IT AND FORGET IT!!!! *_*
Amazing!!! Works quick, easy and flawlessly. I bought 2 different smart chargers before i even saw this one. Lets just say the other 2 completely fried my brand new 12v deep cycle wet lead acid battery. They were supposed to go through there different charge cycles and when the battery was fully changed, it should have shut off. After leaving it over night to charge, the next morning it was still in bulk charge mode. It had been in that mode for over 9 hours. So i was a little hesitant and weary when i received this and hooked it up for the first charge. For my job i use "Rip Tide" pool vacuum that runs off a large group 27 lead acid battery. So i need a trusted battery charger that won't over charge and ruin my battery but also fully charge my battery over night and will be ready the next morning. This smart charger did its job above and beyond. So simple and easy. "JUST SET IT AND FORGET IT"!!!! I am returning it though, to get it's larger brother. It was on sale and only $2 more for 2/10/25 amp. I hope it will be as much of a blessing as this one has been.

Avoid this product, does not work
This product is absolutely junk. If the battery is completely dead or has very little charge, this will do nothing for you. Tried charging my Dodge Ram battery on this and it goes thru conditioning / bulk while making some noises and then just reads battery failure. Had this same behavior on other batteries I tried to charge with this product. Decided to toss this charger in the garbage as it could be potentially dangerous in that it could overcharge the battery. I researched other chargers on Amazon and bought the NOCO Genius 10 charger, since it has a much more reputable brand. Plugged the same Dodge Ram battery into the NOCO charger and it charged to full capacity overnight. The Ampeak charger is nothing but cheap Chinese junk, DO NOT BUY!
