Iron Man 2

Best "Iron Man" film hands down!
This is my favorite Iron Man film, I like them all, but this one I keep watching over & over, whereas the first film was more of a serious tone, this one has more of a summer blockbuster feel to it, Robert Downey Jr. is cast perfectly & Mickey Rourke was great as Whiplash, Samuel L. Jackson makes his debut as Nick Fury as does Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow & this one leads directly into 2011's "Thor" which leads into 2012's "The Avengers"......all three are cool to watch back to back & Sam Rockwell makes for a great advasary to Iron Man as well......Don Cheadle replaces Terrence Howard from the first film & is a lot better as the voice of reason when Tony Stark doesn't take things as seriously as he should, there is also a subplot about the U.S. Government feeling that Tony Stark/Iron Man is a danger to national security only to have him remind them that he has helped reduce terrorism to a great degree......only Downy Jr. could pull off a snarky remark like that, all in all the best one hands down.

Way better than it gets credit for...
I never understood why people bagged on this movie so much. Granted, it's not as good as Iron Man 1, and they changed one of the main characters, but it definitely was for the better Don Cheadle is amazing, and that Howard guy gets more credit than he deserves. Justin Hammer is excellent, War Machine is perfect, and even Micky Rourke is not bad during the first half. A big grey bad guy with whips at the end is pretty lame, the whole "new element" story is pretty dry and kinda pointless and the whole let's blast each others blast thing is right out of a cartoon for six-year olds, but still, the last fight scene with Iron Man and War Machine - the "kill box" scene - to this day, is still among my favorite scenes in the whole MCU. So yes, there are a few kinda lame things, but in my opinion, the good stuff makes up for most of the bad.

Too many problems and plot holes
I'm sure I've seen this movie dozens of times by now, but it just does not hold up. The story is thin, the plot holes and annoyances are many.Sam Rockwell is an amazing actor. Here he is just too over the top. While I loved Black Widow's mini story Arc to get her established in the MCU, so much of the other side characters did not pull their weight in this one. All of Peppers screaming was enough to make me scream and I loved her in the original movie. The story was weak and Mickey Rourke was pretty awful. The only movie I like less than this one in the MCU is the Hulk. Still the fact that I've seen it so many times with my kids is enough to keep it at 3 stars.

Iron Man 2 cast has 4 award-winning actors
The 4 are Robert Downey, Jr.--Golden Globe for best actor for Sherlock Holmes, Gwyneth Paltrow--Oscar for best actress for Shakespear In Love, Mickey Rourke--Golden Globe for best actor for The Wrestler, and Sam Rockwell--Oscar for best supporting actor for Four Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri. I believe the quality of the talent in all the "Infinity Stones" films is the one of the 3 major reasons these wonderful movies have been so popular. It's not just special effects alone that make these big sci-fi/fantasy films work. If the actor is believing what's going on, the audience does too. The powerful imaginations and dedication of these gifted people are what make us suspend our disbelief and let the world fall away for 2 hours or so. Robert Downey Jr. did the 1st film in the series and had the biggest commitment; he saw the quality of the script and suited up for the long haul, taking a big gamble with his career. He was just coming out of rehab. He deserved his success more than any other. Iron Man 2 is the third film in the story arc. We are treated to Tony Stark's engineering genius as he comes up with amazing new ways to get into his armor We see where his relationship with Pepper is going, and witness his history in his relationship with his famous father. We are introduced to the Black Widow, and see Colonel Rhodes become the War Machine. Sam Rockwell as the amoral head of Hammer Tech is all kinds of fun to watch. He delivers one of the best speeches in film when he sells weaponry to arm Rhody's suit. Other two major reasons these films are great? Compelling stories and great direction. Shame on the Academy for not recognizing these landmark films. So many movies of such high quality all related to one another, yet standing alone as fine films in their own right. I haven't talked much about the film itself because just about everyone on the entire planet has seen it. A must have for your library. Oh yeah, and Tony Stark is fluent in French. Good to know a second language, folks.

"Dead for almost 20 years, and still taking me to school."
This is a great movie. I like this better than the previous one, Iron Man, and Iron Man 3. Mickey Rourke has given a great performance as the villain as well. I also like the performance of Sam Rockwell. The introduction of Black Widow here is very well done, so is the introduction of War Machine. This is much more of a typical Iron Man movie where Iron Man and the villain are battling based on Technology, as opposed to some weird high heat science in Iron Man 3. And in spike of all the science and technology challenges, you also have pepper desperately trying to do her best to run a company - something that we all understand from trying to get through the work week.Iron Man 1 is only OK to me - I only like it because Robert Downy Jr gave a great performance. So I rate Iron Man 2 the very best of Iron Man movies.

Billionaire Genius with Iron Abs
In case Robert Downey Jr's arrogant, sarcastic billionaire self wasn't enough, he made a suitcase Iron Man suit with iron abs. I'm smitten by this fully functional machine-man mix, so vulnerable yet with an invincible attitude.Sam Rockwell's over the top performances are a delight - who needs subtlety from the man who brilliantly portrayed Zaphod? Not I.Pepper and Black Widow turn in appropriately sexy, yet smart and capable understated performances, while Whiplash is an over the top cartoon villain to match the other guys.Overall - suspense of reality? Needed and easy to obtain - it is a comic book movie, after all. Buckle in for an enjoyable ride.

Iron Man 2.
I think there's general agreement that this sequel isn't quite as engaging as the first, but that doesn`t make it a bad film by any means; quite the opposite – it's every bit as slick and visually exciting, with a new angle on the character as he comes up against a more difficult adversary; Downey Jr. again gives a fine performance as the irritating but amusing Tony Stark and the rest of the cast play out the mayhem with conviction and polish; typical Marvel action-sequences (long and noisy) and good fun if one has a taste for this kind of thing. The standard UK DVD release has only a commentary as an extra; as with the first film, if one requires subtitles they must be selected from the on-screen options – the disc won`t let you select them with your handset button once the film is in progress.

The Better Marvel Films are the early Ones
I enjoy the early Marvel, films , the first few phases, i find the Iron man films to be very entertaining and this one has a great cast, Mickey Rourke as the bad guy, but i find even better is Sam Rockwell who is superb in everything he doesThe transfer on this 4k disc is very nice and the usual from the marvel discs, the sound in Atmos sounded great on my systemMine also came with a Slipcover for those who collect them

Superb Sequel
Great sequel to Iron Man. With the world now privy to the true identity of Iron Man it's not long before both good and bad forces have their eye on some of Iron Man's technology and inventions, in particular those that have the potential to be shaped into weapons. The supporting characters build and develop in the film (gotta love Happy) and I thought Rourke was a brilliant evil nemesis type for Stark to deal with. Really well paced, good action, super styled and entertaining throughout.I wasn't the biggest fan of Iron Man so skipped the Iron Man films as the MCU unfolded on the big screen, but saw all other films. I really liked how Downey portrayed him though I still found his character kind of annoying. Finally watching all the Iron Man films whilst doing a full run leading up to Thor 3 recently though really changed my mind about the character and Downey really owns the character again in this sequel, like he was born for it.

Iron Man 2, an utter abomination
This is a typical American film of clutter. It is an utter abomination, representing the abhorrence of that nation. The screenwriting and directing were a disaster. It was so loathsome that I switched off after about ten minutes. The DVD is going straight into the black refuse bin.

Not as good as first film
There is a lot of talking in this movie in between the action sequences - I'm sure they could have trimmed 20 mins off the length. However, the action scenes are good and Mickey Rourke does make a decent bad guy. Sam Rockwell also plays the jealous villain wannabe to great effect. Blu ray picture and sound were great, not quite as good as Avatar or Sucker Punch (in my opinion, two of the best).Would like some confirmation from other reviewers - I wonder whether my copy of Iron Man 2 (Triple Play) is official product or not - blu ray case was thinner and more rounded on corners than standard blu ray case and small print on rear cover could not be read due to poor print quality - discs all present but just have black print on, no colours/pictures - digital download code worked so assumed must be original - is this a correct description of this version?
