Q: Hi Guys, Can anyone help me out with the general dimension of the brackets in the closed position? i need to pre fab before the stuff arrives. thanks

the closed position is 10 inches long and when open its at a 45 degree angle. I hope this will help you. Duane

Q: Black dust? Ever since installing the knife drawer/tray I built with these hinges, there is a fine black dust that covers my countertop. Thoughts?

I have 2 sets of these chrome plated hinges, one attatched to a wooden spice rack and one for a wooden knife rack. I checked mine, and could find no black dust. If yours are painted black the friction of moving parts could maybe cause the black dust. There are also two white nylon buttons on either side that gradually wear, maybe yours are black. But, my best guess is that the knife rack/tray is rubbing on the hinges meaning there is not enough clearance between the rack and the hinges.

Q: Anyone know how tall/deep the inside can be made? Trying to make pull down spice rack, it would have to be at least 2/3'' plus thickness of wood

If mounted directly to the bottom of the OH Cab to the top of the metal flange completely closed it's 1-5/8" clearance between the two. But there is secondary stopping point before it completely closes, that measurement is 2-5/8" to 2-3/4" ish (you could always add a shim between the cab & the hinge if you needed more space? I made a pull-down shelf for my wife's I-pad to use for recipes when cooking. Works Great, she can close it with the I-pad on it to get it out of the if needed. One foot note: I added a 1" finger hole on the bottom Bd near the front & center to help open it & pull it down as the top of the front lip I put on to keep the I-pad from sliding off was within 1/8 from the bottom of the cab.
