Glacier Tek Cool Vest Personal Cooling, 59 Degrees for 2.5 hours 8 Cool Packs, Recharge in 30 Minutes

I work outside as a gardener in Minneapolis parks. This really helped me survive the recent heat waves of summer 2026. I put one set of cooling packs in our mini fridge and swap them out at breaks. Keeps my core temp down so I sweat less and don't get heat stroke. I like that it is adjustable to any body. Absolutely recommend this for anyone working outside.

I am a utility location tech, which means I work outside every day. All day. With the record breaking temperatures Minnesota has experienced this summer, the glacier tek cool vest has been my saving grace. The adjustable straps allow you to tighten the vest to fit any body type, creating the cooling packs to rest nice and snug against your body. The glacier tek vest stays cool for hours, is light weight, and easy to use! Highly recommend for those who work outdoors.

6'3" M Overall this works well and I'm happy I bought it and I would buy it again. But I would buy a tall version and give that five stars. They made a real sacrifice making this universal size I need the overall vest longer and I need each of the ice packs to have at least one if not two more sections Unfortunately, I'm still heavily using it in September here in the Phoenix Metro area. It does help provide some cooling and I'm glad I bought the extra ice packs because I do rotate them.

The GlacierTech cooling vest is a nice addition to my outdoor equipment. I rated it four stars instead of five because of the length of time the cooling lasts. In 100 degree weather it lasts about an hour and 15 minutes. Also the eight cooling packs are two sets of different sizes. One set has four sections and the other has three. I don't understand the three unless it is for a child. I use the three section packs inside my hat so all is not lost. The refreeze time only takes between 15 and 30 minutes. This accommodates a quick turnaround for usage. Another benefit is the adjustable velcro straps which allow for different size individuals. I have found that when first putting on the vest a loose fitting is best. As the packets begin to defrost adjustments to the velcro to bring the vest closer to your body prolongs the cooling. The GlacierTech vest is a little pricier than others but I believe it was worth the additional cost. The liquid inside is not water and I'm assuming it is a proprietary substance that seems to be cutting edge technology. I would definitely recommend this product.

This cooling vest is really a life saver in this heat. It works to keep your core cool. It is a bit heavy but I'm a petite person and I can easily manage it. I like that it lasts a long time. I purchased an extra entire set of 8 cool packs to rotate. I like combining this product with others for the neck and head. Some comments mention that the material in the pockets prevent the cold from reaching your skin, but I think the packs directly against your skin (via a net material) would be too cold. I'm satisfied this product works as advertised.

Too small for me. Soaking my shirt before going outside works better.

I work in a manufacturing setting as a press operator and although my company has rented a 40 ton capacity air conditioning unit the production floor still gets so hot that it is evident that people are on the verge of heat prostration- you can see it by the red faces and stress as they move at a slower pace than usual. In my corner of the building the heat builds up so much on 90°F days that the press electrical cabinet sometimes fails in what is actually about 120°F to 125°F ambient temperatures. Last Friday I actually got sick from the heat and I decided to do something about it by ordering this cooling vest. I was especially impressed with the fact that the gel packs freeze at 59°F in 20 minutes if they are submerged in ice water. A fully re-charged set of gel packs do not feel like ice cubes but the cooling sensation is strong enough to weather the hottest and most humid conditions. It cools off your core effectively, allowing you to have a clear mind while moving at an aggressive pace throughout the shift. However, you must plan in advance how you will recharge your gel packs! You will want to change them out every 2 to 3 hours. I bring a Play- mate cooler with me to work stocked with big blocks of ice which I make using Rubbermaid containers in my downstairs freezer. It holds water bottles and my gel packs. On a brutal night working nine hour shifts this cooling vest will increase your productivity and comfort exponentially. I highly recommend it for anyone who is working in misery because of the heat! Consider it an investment in your health and both mental and physical power. The garment and gel packs are of excellent, top-notch quality.

The vest is much better than one of those evaporating things, but if you are expecting the comfort of wrapping yourself around a 20 lb bag of ice holding on for dear life while the sun tries to kill you, you are going to be very disappointed. The "cool packs" get down to about 60 degrees, which sounds nice, but they don't carry much heat; nothing like an ice pack. It comes with extra packs; the idea being to swap them out regularly and even a mesh bag to store them in. I found it works a bit better to stuff every single pack into the vest then toss the whole thing into the freezer to get it as cold as possible, which usually buys a little extra time. Even then, its pretty limited. What makes it worse is the size. The vest itself is pretty short. The person in the product photo must be about 5'7". I am a few inches above 6', and even when adjusting the straps as long as possible, the bottom sits several inches above my belt. Besides looking ridiculous, being too short means the vest doesn't cover much, especially in the front. There is no pockets for cooling packs around the heart lung area and hiking it up as high as possible does not help. Lowering it makes it fit a bit better, but this reduces its effectiveness even more. This is disappointing; if it were made just a few inches longer, they could have added a second row of pockets and doubled the cooling potential of the vest. Speaking of cooling; once again don't expect much. I got it to help with my heat intolerance; it is most helpful when sitting in the car or a recliner to prevent a hot sweaty back. It does make car rides more comfortable when the A/C alone is inadequate. When going outside in hot weather, it buys me a few minutes to take out the trash or sit in the shade for 10-15 minutes before overheating. Attempting as much as a walk quickly overwhelms the very limited capability of the vest. I considered stuffing it with actual ice packs to improve cooling, but once again, the limited surface area provided by the pockets is the limiting factor. More pockets and more surface area would really help. Better yet, a switch to a type of field shirt (think thin windbreaker but out of cotton) in normal sizes would be really nice. Closer sizing would increase contact area it would hold about three times the amount of cooling packs. Plus it would look like normal clothing instead of a weird pocket-less fishing vest. By this if you are short and petite and want a little bit of cooling. A crossing guard in 90 degree weather could benefit, provided they aren't too tall. However, If you are tall and need serious cooling due to hot weather or any kind of medical condition, skip this and look elsewhere.
