Reliable charcoal for my Weber.

It's okay- I don't know what all the fuss is about.
I purchased this charcoal based on a lot of online reviews stating that this was the best charcoal for smoking. For the price and performance, I'm going back to Kingsford Professional. I didn't notice any real discernible difference in heat consistency, and I felt like we actually used MORE charcoal product than we did using the Kingsford Professional briquets. The main plus I'd give this over our now #1 choice is that the smoke was a bit cleaner and more neutral, but again for the price I'll stick with Kingsford.

Love Royal Oak way better than the others!
Not sure how the others tried to light the coals but an electronic charcoal lighter does the trick. Coals are ready within 15 minutes and burn WAY longer than Kingsford, and hotter too. Kingsford just burns out too fast. Could barely get our food cooked before it burns out. Royal Oak puts out twice the heat and burns twice as long. My absolute go to for grilling! The best I've found so far.

Lasts Longer, A Cleaner Burn, From real hardwood
I grew up( 65+) w/ my dad using Kingsford and one day as an adult I tried Royal Oak when roasting a whole chicken on my Weber and found it burned longer, and smelled/tasted cleaner. I searched out the ingredients on both and found Royal Oak is all hardwoods no additives. Kingsford is an another matter-which also contains coal, limestone, borax, sawdust, and I forget what else. Been using Royal Oak for many yrs since and also lump charcoal for faster foods.. At times I'll add bits of cherry or plum wood from my small fallen tree branches or twigs for a little extra flavor on certain foods & meats.

A lot of smoke. Doesn’t stay lit as well as Kingsford and not worth price for minimal better taste

Kingsford match light is better
The charcoals took a very long time to stay lit and using a lot of fluid to keep lit
