I followed this book when it first came out. Thirty years ago this year!I was young, fit and determined.I am going to try again. The running is out, too many hills with packs.But this book will get you fit, if you put the effort in. And there is effort.Give it a go. Dare yourself

Best fitness book I know
This is the best all round fitness book and program I know. In my time, I have been a solider, bodybuilder, martial artist, boxer, personal trainer and all round fitness enthusiast and this is the best general fitness book and program I have ever come across. It's bloody hard work, but follow the stages through to "Marine" or "Commando" and you may not look like Arnie or Sly, but you will be able to cope with just about any physical challenge that comes your way!

Life changing book
Interestingly, I bought this book when I was 32 but only got around to using it seriously at 52! I had to adapt the course to suit my lifestyle and the available facilities, so I replaced the yomp (march with a pack) with a session on a rowing machine and dropped the swim, but stuck to the rest of the program. I like the way the program starts with fairly easy exercises at Level 1, but gets progressively harder as you go along. I also like the variety - the exercises include running, cycling, yomping with a pack, swimming and circuit training. I have now reached Level 4, which involves doing an hour of solid exercise six days a week. I hope to reach Level 5 by the end of the year. The program has done wonders for my physical and mental fitness and I've lost around 8 kilos during the course. You do need to have a reasonable level of willpower to stick the course, but it is well worth it if you do. There are plenty of programs out there which claim to get you fit and slim with minimal work. This is not one of them. It works, but you need to put in the hard yards!

good stuff
Great book, i just hoped that it was'nt as hard training as it is made in the book. I was hoping for some "short-cuts" to keeping fit. However, great book and will really tear you in the process of making you the perfect fitness machine.
