MONAMI153 Ballpoint Pen 1.0mm Dozen Box (Black, Blue, Red Ink Color Mix 12 Pens)

The Monami 153 is a nice cheap pen. The bold 1.0mm tip writes smoothly for a ballpoint. The click is satisfying. I've only had a few pens with a side release, such as the Mitsubishi Boxy. It's actually a lot of fun. (BTW, these feel cheaper and lack the unique ergonomic feel of the Boxy but they cost less and write more smoothly.) These pens are pretty minimalist but that's okay. It's part of the charm and they work well for what they are. It's worth adding a few of these to your kids' pencil box, your home pen cup, or the office/school supply cabinet just for something new.

The pen feels like you would expect for a thinner, low-cost pen. It writes smoothly, but the ink lay down is just a bit blobby. About what you would expect at this price point.

Being half-Korean, I've always wanted to try the historical Monami 153 pen in any of its flavors. My mother used the Monami 153 as a child growing up in Korea. I'm not sure why I waited this long. Having not seen one in person (before buying), I really had no expectations, but I was very surprised at how light (and petite) the pen is. It is much lighter than I typically would like, but the writing experience more than makes up for it. It's a basic ballpoint pen, but I can see why it's such a staple in Korea. It was hard to pass up a dozen of these in blue, black, and red for such a low price. I hope to eventually add some more of the various pen body styles of the 153.

Best pens of all time, I just stockpile tons for the price. Love the mechanical release. If you like old Mitsubishi pens, this is the best replacement.

it writes so smoothly and all my co workers want to borrow mine. it lasts pretty long. No ink poop.
