4 Film Favorites: Jim Carrey (Dumb and Dumber, The Majestic, The Mask, Yes Man)

Having previously seen only one of the four movies in this package, the purchase was made with an expectation of hopefully seeing something that could be called a must see movie.First, the one movie I had previously seen:The Mask is a soft romantic fantasy type movie draw on the legend of Loki the Norse god. Although special effects rule in this movie, music and dance give the movie its energy, entertainment and fun factor. Always good to watch.The three Jim Carrey movies I had not seen in no particular order.Dumb and Dumber provides some intellectual and many emotional moments of slapstick when two guys try to return a lost briefcase to its owner. Lots of fun.Yes Man is an interesting twist of The Dice Man that Carrey plays well. Imagine if you will never saying the word 'No' and what could happen to you. The romantic interest in this movie is provided by Zooey Deschanel, a very talented actress in her own right. Very enjoyable and in some places a little thought provoking.The Majestic is a movie starring Jim Carrey that quite frankly I had never heard of. This is not the 'usual' type of movie I would have expected to see Carrey in at all. Having said that, I am astounded at not only how good this movie is but at how good Jim Carrey is. I took a chance on buying this package, having only see one of the movies before but I did find my must see movie. The Majestic is it.Enjoy!

I already had The Mask on DVD. I found this while hunting for The Majestic, and since I like Yes Man as well, it was a no-brainer at the price. My set was actually missing Dumb and Dumber, but since I’ve never been a fan of that one, I didn’t even notify the shipper. I’m one of those weirdos that actually like Jim Carrey’s more dramatic, yet still funny roles. The Majestic is more drama than comedy. If you appreciate the sentimentality of Frank Capra, you might like it. Yes Man reminded me a lot of a phase I went through. I look back on it realizing I was naive, but I had some amazing experiences as well, much like in the film.

He was always funny, like having his movies.

I bought this for The Majestic, which is one of my favorite movies. I knew my husband liked The Mask and Dumb and Dumber also, so this was a good set to me. I haven't seen Yes Man yet, so I don't know if I'll like it or not, but it's still a fabulous bargain to get 4 movies for the price of one. Each disc is separate in this set, and are all together on one spindle in the case. I'm not too happy with that, since I have to be careful not to scratch them when putting away a disc. It's also awkward taking a movie out, unless it's the top one. I can live with that, though, since it's such a great deal. If you're a Jim Carrey fan, you can't go wrong with this set.

I already had The Majestic but it quit working so I needed a new one and this filled the bill

Ordered this twice. We were excited about all of the movies but mostly The Mask. The first order had a bad disc. Only checked two of the movies from that order. Dumb and Dummer skipped twice but we made it through the movie. Discs were clear of any visible damage. Ordered again, The Mask skipped worse than the first time around. Didn't bother checking the other 3 movies. This is clearly a quality control issue from the actual disc creation since the discs are shinny and no obvious scratches or imperfections. I am apparently not the only one that has had this issue. I thought strongly about keeping the second one just to hopefully have 3 other movies that DID work but I decided against it just on the principle of the matter. Reordered through a different seller.

I bought this for my daughter. I was happy and excited, but that feeling changed suddenly when we tried to play the fourth movie called the Majestic. It did not load like the other movies. Apparently, that movie was blank and never loaded on the cd. I am as my daughter extremely disappointed. My confidence is shappetefd. I am angry. I am not sure i could shop on Amazon again. This of course can change if the seller can see me a copy of Jim Carey's the Majestic movie. I want this resolved.

excelente selecion de peliculas, lo mejor es que cada una viene en un disco independiente con sus respectivos extras, solo que deben de considerar que es un articulo dirigido a USA y Canada y por ende es region 1 y las peliculas no estan dobladas al espanol, de hecho el majestic ni siquiera trae subtitulos en espanol, deben al menos entender ingles para sacar el maximo de este producto

Awesome Jim Carrey movies and a good price :)

I have been a fan of Jim Carrey for a long time. A very talented man. I know and love 'The Mask'He tends to be cast as men who are young, outside the common run of society, and passive: insofar as things happen to them; they don't make things happen. The Mask is typical of this - though the Mask character is so surreal it lifts the film out of dreariness and the plot is unusual.Dumb&Dumber; I had the impression this was a popular film so I thought it might be worth a watch.... horribly slow and without a plot - sort of anti-buddy movie. - and not funny. Occasionally embarrassing, but not funny. So glad I don't have to watch it againThe Majestic: Landau puts in a fine performance here. A totally unbelievable plot that hovers between corn and communism. It goes on and on and on - I was desperate for it to end! Carrey is fine as the unlovable central character - a cynical scriptwriter wrongly accused by the McCarthy committee of being a communist [HEAVY...] Who turns up after a drunken drive and car accident - he manages to drive slowly off a bridge over a raging torrent 50 feet below and sustains only a scratched head and a lost memory - He turns up in a town and is feted as a war hero thought lost returned after 9 years. The character is supposed to be at most 35 . Carrey looks older than that. There is a lot of small-town-people-are-nice stuff c.f. Pleasantville, before he is arrested and arraigned before the committee - at this point the whole town turn their back on him. I got to the end which is a contrived piece of poorly written corn [Well, as corn I suppose it is well written...] Not one of his great roles. The supporting cast work hard get everything they can out of the script and are to be applauded. Screen play let them down.The YES Man: Oh No! Again cast as a younger character with a best friend young enough to be his son, Carrey looks his age & seems tired and ill at ease. His character is unhappy, then gets happy, then finds you can live life by balancing spontaneity and sober judgement. At his age he should know that stiflingly dull fact. It has all the slickness of a television movie and is equally forgettable. Best moment of the film is when Terrence Stamp enters for the last time to address his audience of Yes-men.PLease give this a miss : the discs are fine , no extras to speak of. Have to say the soundtracks are dire too.The mask wins hands down.

Great seller, Great product. Very Fast shipping.I love these movies and I just had to purchase it to just have as this set had movies i all love.I highly recommend this movie to anybody who likes Jim Carrey movies.
