If you're looking for #2000, this is it
Aurifil recently changed the names of all their colors, but the numbers have remained the same. I sincerely wish sellers on Amazon offering Aurifil, would include the thread number in their title to cut down on the confusion that's bound to result from the name change. For example . . .this thread title says it's "light sand" but it used to be called "beige". Some sellers are still using the old names while some have switched to the new. But this is still color #2000.Now for the review . . .how many times have you carefully measured before cutting your pieces, used a quarter inch foot on your machine and slowly stitched the pieces precisely to form a block . . .then measured your block and discovered it was smaller than the instructions said it should be?This used to be the most frustrating part about quilting for me . . .so much so, I'd take my blocks to various instructors to trouble shoot. That's when I discovered Aurifil 50 wt thread. I never realized how much difference the thread could make. But think about it . . .if the thread being used is approximately the same size as the threads woven into the fabric, the seams bury themselves into the fabric and take up less space . . .making perfect seams every time. Now, run a length of chain store thread through your fingertips and notice the lumps . . .there are no lumps in the Aurifil thread. They actually scorch the lumps off in the manufacturing process, leaving the thread silky smooth. Absolutely, hands down, the best thread for piecing. However, because it's so fine, if stitching garments, it's certainly strong enough to hold seams together, but it's more difficult to pull gathers . . .so don't get rid of your poly/cotton threads as they still come in handy for garment sewing . . .but nothing but Aurifil comes near my quilts! As a side note, this particular color is Aurifil's only color that's au-natural . . .no dyes . . .this is the color as it comes from the cotton . . .and blends beautifully with most light to medium colors. It's the color I reach for most frequently when piecing.

Rarely tangles
I have used Aurifil 50 wt thread in multiple colors over the yeasr. I love that it rarely tangles and there is very little lint compared to other thread brands. That means less mess to clean under your feed dogs after a big sewing project. I'm a quilter so do a lot of machine piecing, but not clothing construction.
