The Timeless Swing

Tom Watson
I became a fan of Tom Watson in 1977. I was working for the R & A at Turnberry as an Official at The Open Championship. I remember distinctly even to this day, it was about 7.30 pm wednesday evening, it was the last practice day prior to the start the next morning. I was making my way back to the car park most everyone had gone home at that point.I was strolling across the eighth fairway, when I noticed two individuals on the tee to my right, of course it was Tom Watson and caddie Alfie Fyles. Tom had turned up late to practice,I watched him hit a few shots that evening, what a swing, what a ball striker! There was only Jack Nicklaus for me at that time in golf, but what I saw that evening was very special, and still is! I left the course and drove to my friends house and told him I had just seen the winner! So the upshot of all this is I am now the proud owner of Tom's book and DVD. I highly reccomend both of these! Thanks Amazon.

A little deception?
I purchased this book for my husband after hearing about it on a satellite radio golf show. One of the draws was that the book gave the reder access to videos that complemented and illustrated the topics and techniques in each chapter. When I got the book, imagine my disappointment to learn (after the fact) that the videos are only accessible through the use of a smart phone! We do not have a smart phone and do not plan on getting one in the near future so we are missing out on one of the features that convinced me to buy this book in the first place. I think that the authors/publishers should let the buying public know ahead of time that only smart phone owners have access to the videos. Nothing was mentioned on the radio show and there was nothing in Amazon's written description that forewarned potential customers. I am sure my husband will still enjoy the book, but not to the extent that was intended.

YouTube links do not work
I have no problem with the content or instruction in the book, however the YouTube links the are an integral part of the instruction and I assume part of the cost of the book came back as private. Tried to find an answer on Amazon to fix the problem and they transferred me to an outside vendor who charged a dollar to essentially say they have no idea what the problem is.

The Voice of Knowledge and Experience
People who really know their subject can generally talk about it in very simple, practical terms. They can take a complicated subject and make it simple to understand. When they discuss their area of expertise, it comes across as unassuming and yet so obvious! Tom has this quality as his golf swing knowledge is revealed in this book. I was immediately struck by his confidence, expertise and practical approach and this impression remained with me throughout the whole book. This is a good golf book and I would recommend it to anyone. His coverage of the topic is all encompassing yet very easy to read and follow. The instruction is well illustrated with color photographs. Probably a product of the digital age we live in. Congratulations Tom on a fine golf book - James Lythgoe, author of The Golf Swing: It's All in the Hands .

Hey, it's Tom Watson
I'm relatively new to the game but over the last year and a half, I've read and seen a lot of instruction regarding the game. I think it all begins with a solid base. This book makes the basics easy to understand and comes from a source that I feel that I can trust. The vids are nice but not really a "selling" factor for me. It's an all around back to basics book. So many of my buddies stray away from basics looking to improve and go the other way. I think that once you have the basics down for a repeatable comfortable swing (for your individual flexibility/body), it comes down to practice and experience. Perhaps a good coach. I've given this book as a gift and would recommend it to anyone.

Very good book
"The Timeless Swing" is a very good golf book. It covers the basic swing with great illustrations and easy to ready prose. I have a number of golf instruction books (Tiger's, Freddie's) and this book is much better. The pictures are relevant (not gimmicky) and can reviewed independent of the text. You can't go wrong with this book for beginner or experienced golfer (even single digit players will enjoy). Why not a 5 star? Tom does not cover the putting stroke, chips or the short game in this book. It is only the full-swing. Lefties? You better read it in a mirror!

Most helpful book for me
I am an amateur golfer and still wrestling with my swing. I have read many good books for this game and have practiced it regularly. I think that I finally understand swing mechanism for me and I hope that it will improve my swing gradually. I would like to recommend this book to the one who loves to read about and play golf. This book is worth it!!

un concentré d'astuces.
Exercice et conseils super faciles à mettre en oeuvre. Anectodes. Vidéos démontrent le tout. Et puis c'est quand même une légende
