valuable resource for those interested in aviation history from a global perspective.
The Encyclopedia of Aircraft of World War II by Paul E. Eden is an impressive reference book for aviation enthusiasts and historians alike. The book is divided into five sections, each focusing on a different type of aircraft that played a significant role during the Second World War: fighters, bombers, transports, reconnaissance aircraft, and seaplanes. The book is well-written and the information is presented in a clear and concise manner. The author provides detailed specifications and technical information about each aircraft, including its speed, range, armament, and service history. The book also includes over 500 high-quality photographs and illustrations, which really help to bring the aircraft to life. One of the things I appreciated about this book is that it doesn't just focus on the aircraft used by the major powers of the war, but also includes information about lesser-known planes from countries such as Sweden, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. This makes the book a valuable resource for those interested in aviation history from a global perspective.Overall, The Encyclopedia of Aircraft of World War II is an excellent reference book for anyone interested in the aviation history of World War II. The level of detail and the quality of the photographs and illustrations make it a valuable addition to any aviation enthusiast's library.

Comprehensive info - great for those who love WWII era planes
Bought this for my son who is 10 years old and interested in aviation. Personally I find the subject matter a little dry but he is a big fan of WWII planes and loves listening to me reading out the finer details of the planes’ designs, specs and history. And looking at the photos. It is extraordinary the amount of information compiled about each aircraft. My son has one criticism which is that the pages are a bit glossy so there is sometimes glare if the light hits at the wrong angle. Also he would prefer to have it in hardback so it is easier to prop open when reading in bed. It is a big and quite heavy book. If I had known he would like it so much I would have paid the extra for hardback.

This is real good encyclopedia.
I have rated this with four stars. I may be nit picking, but there are some aircraft no in there that I think should be. For example there is no mention of the Westland Whirlwind four cannon fighter. Only 144 were built but served from 1941 to 1943. It was removed from service and replaced by the The Typhoon. Any remaining Whirlwinds would have been very war weary. Other than these sorts of omissions it is a very good encyclopedia which is very thorough in regards to the many aircraft covered

Better than I expected!
I looked at a few alternatives before I decided to purchase this one. It arrived in really good condition despite the fact that the amazon packaging looked like it had been through the wars. Thank you to whichever company that sent it!

Excellent and informative
Excellent reference book. Despite having many other books covering the same subject this book has added to my knowledge, not least because of the excellent photos of each aircraft type. My new only criticism is that it doesn't take include every aircraft type to fight in WW2but it remains an invaluable research tool.

Key book for fans of World War 2 Aircraft
What an interesting book. Bought as a birthday present for hubby - he is thrilled. My father was born in the early thirties and had several books of this nature which are no longer available so I have also spent happy moments looking through the pages and finding illustrations of aircraft he had spotted during the war. Highly recommended.

My husband LOVES this book!
My husband's deceased father flew a bomber in WWII, sparking his interest in warplanes. This book is the most complete in terms of including not just Allied planes, but German and Japanese planes as well. Great gift for WWII enthusiasts.
