Given the ever evolving options in frameset aerodynamics, tire clearance, gram reduction, brake standards, and our own dogged adherence to the n+1 rule, we often find ourselves with a variety of different options in the stable. Climbing bikes, crit sleds, TT rockets, gravel adventurers--every bike serves its own unique purpose. This creates two big issues: equipping them all with power meters and explaining each acquisition to dubious significant others. The easily transferable PowerTap P1S Power Meter Pedals address the first issue. You're on your own with the second. The P1S is similar to the more expensive P1 Pedals, but it measures power in the left pedal, only, making it one of the most economical options for power measurement. This obviously appeals to the self-sponsored racer, and that appeal is only heightened when you consider that swapping them out to another bike is exactly as easy as swapping out a regular set of pedals--all you need is a pedal wrench and a little bit of grease. In contrast to pedal-based power meters that gather data with pods dangling from the crank arms, the P1S pedals contain the entire mechanism for gathering information within the pedal body itself. Power data is determined with the use of 40 individual measurements of angular velocity per pedal rotation for precise measurements of both round and oval/non-round chainring setups. These pedals feature ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart connectivity to seamlessly pair with your head unit or other compatible device for data viewing and file tracking. The pedals come with a pair of PowerTap's proprietary cleats. They look similar to several popular competitor's cleats, but they aren't. When it comes to the cleat/pedal interface, we don't like to risk the obvious safety hazards of unpredictable or sloppy engagement, so we don't recommend trying to force cleats into pedals that they aren't built for. In all cases, we strongly suggest sticking with the manufacturer's recommendation.

Good value.
I like the fact that I can move these between my bikes very easily and don't have to calibrate anything. It paired easily with my garmin edge and also works well with zwift via bluetooth.

Easy On!
Very simple to install right out of the box. Synced to my watch instantly up and running in less than 10 minutes! Very accurate +/- 5 joules according to my trainer watts. Pretty impressive

I almost got killed
I could not for the life of me get my feed out of the clips. I went to the bike store.. had them adjusted... then went to another store and tried again. I was really having trouble clipping out. Finally the cleats wore out enough that I was able to... Problem is that the cleats were so worn, that within a week or so they did not hold my foot in place at all. I was on a 100 mile ride in the UK and had to ride the last hour with my foot loose from the cleat. I finally gave up. I wish they would have worked because the functionality and the training aspect of the PowerTap was great.

Great way to train with power.
Great way to use power for the price. Only one pedal records power metrics and multiplies those metrics by 2, but as long as you have relatimely equal strength in your legs, then you'll be fine. Works seamlessly with Garmin 920 XT which provides a ton of data on Training Peaks.

Terrible service, I do not recommend to buy this ...
I used this item for 4 months, then it stoped working. I contacted the seller and the problem was not fixed. I needed it because I was training for an Ironman and no one solved the problem my pedals presented. When I wanted to apply the warranty or my money back, the seller told me that I was not possible to change the item neither pay the refund. As every body can guess, I am without the PowerTaps I bought.Terrible service, I do not recommend to buy this product or to buy from this seller.Good luck to all

Great powermeter! Easy to install and synchronize (I use garmin). It takes time and a few rides for it to calibrate perfectly, but works like a charm.

Piece of junk
I bought this 5 months ago and it has stopped working. Talking to tech support they said it needs a new battery, the only problem is that the metal covering the battery was so soft that it lost all the threading so I a hex wrench just spins and spins. I’m two weeks away from a half ironman and all the help they gave was to tell me to try to go to a bike shop. They won’t be able to do anything either. Worthless investment.
