Inherent Design Flaw
I read reviews of identical (or at least very similar) items where buyers complained of screws stripping. I had that happen to me with this item. Some of those complaining of stripped screws thought that the threads were not tapped properly. I thought that too at first, but upon closer inspection I could see what the problem was.As we all know, bike stems are split all the way, top to bottom, to allow a sufficient clamping force on the steerer tube. This extender is NOT split far enough to allow clamping action at the upper screw. Thus, when tightening the upper screw, it feels like it stops and can't go farther. A little more tightening, and the cheap alloy strips out.I'm only using this temporarily on a trainer, so I wanted to make it work. I drilled and tapped the stripped hole for a larger M6 screw (stock was M5), opened up the recessed flat to make room for the larger M6 screw head, extended the slot with a Dremel, and installed it. Now it works... for my trainer.I would NOT use this on any bike being ridden on a road or a trail. Its design could lead to an unsafe condition.

Improved Riding Position
The Wake fork stem extender so far has proven to be a solid component that has enabled me to raise the handlebars on an older road bike. In recent years as I have gotten older, I’ve found that a more upright riding position is much more comfortable. I have raised the handlebars on all three of my road bikes making the geometry of each one very close to the geometry found on the currently popular gravel bikes. The Wake stem extender looks good and blends in with the black spacers and stem that are on my 2003 Trek. Installing the extender and adjusting the handlebars took less than 20 minutes and I’m very satisfied with the quality of the extender as well.

Does what it's meant to do
Needed to raise the handle bar on my Cannondale Evo, due to the aggressive geometry of the bike and my on-going back issues. This makes riding a bit more comfortable.Had some issues fitting the extender on to the carbon fork. Even with the two fastening screws completely off, the extender would not easily slide onto the fork. Had to use a rubber mallet to get the extender on the fork. Also, I didn't know much about the different types of compression plugs prior to purchasing this extender. My Cannondale was fitted with an FSA compression plug, which is not compatible with the long screw provided with the extender. Had to purchase another type of compression plug, which is hollow in the center bolt. This allows the long screw to be fastened to the hollow bolt connected to the new compression plug. Found the alternative compression plug on Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWY7945Can't wait to take the bike for a ride up and around the South Bay with the new extender installed.

Worked for a Motobecane Cafe hybrid
Never should have bought a cafe bike. Basically, it's a road bike with flat bars. They are supposed to be upright and a "plush" ride. Umm, no, maybe for a 20-ish person, but it's not plush. I like this bike, just was hunched over and needed a fix. I'm bone-on-bone lower discs, but I'm going to get some cardio in. This was an easy install and the cables weren't overstretched (if that is a word). It looks a little awkward with the extension, but it isn't too bad. The extender is tight with both bolts, they weren't stripped. I would say it's a simple design and it was done correctly.

Comfort is a must!
Makes bike look funny, otherwise works great. I have bad shoulder/neck problems. And I ride minimum 10miles each ride, so having sit more upright has helped me greatly on longer rides. Truth is more comfortable you are on bike, more you gonna enjoy and keep riding.

Allows adjustments, good quality lightweight
Good quality materials, light weight...simple install. The washers allow up and down placement or adjustment prior to tightening down to get just the right height.

Installing this is tricky.
Once installed, this works very well. I am very happy with it. But, if you have any trouble with the installation, get a bike shop to look at it. You have to have a minimum amount but some clearance above the bike fork stem, and you need a minimum amount, but some clearance under the cap, otherwise you will not be able to properly preload the steering bearings. (About 2mm in each case) They give absolutely no instructions on how to do this. Other than this, it is nicely made and works well.

Upright comfort for most bikes (you need a threadless headset)
I typically don't write reviews but I wanted to share that this is a fantastic way to get you into a more upright riding position. You can even pair this with a short distance (~60mm) riser and a little riser bar to get in the perfect position. I installed this in under 5 minutes on a 2020 Giant Fathom 1 (mountain bike) and now I have a comfortable, all-around trail machine. This turned a somewhat aggressive mountain bike frame into the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden. Please note that you need a threadless headset for this to work. So most mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, will work but not likely a road bike unless you have an adapter.
