Excellent product
This is an excellent tool. I really do not understand some of the complaints by a small minority of posters here. The light is quite bright with the included batteries -- use it in the morning or evening if you are in an area of the Southwest with intense sunlight in midday. The government puts a limit on laser brightness so idiots won't damage their eyesight --or the eyesight of others --by shining the light into someone's eyes. And everyone knows you boresight a rifle at 25 yards based on how far out you want to the bullet to carry before falling back into the line of sight of the scope crosshairs (e.g, if you want the bullet to be dead on at 240 yards, it will be a few inches high at 100 yards and a inch or two low at 25 yards --but less than the distance from the center of the scope to the center of the barrel.) Look at the ballistics of the cartridge you are using.Sometimes a cynical part of me can't help wondering if Amazon is a forum for business competitors.

Great buy!
I have one of these laser bore sighters for my 223. So I decided to get one for my 308 for the fun of it. The package came with 4 batteries and it only needed 3. Waited until dark and went out in my back yard. From my back porch table to my fence is about 35 yards. Laser is really bright. I've read some reviews where people are complaining about them not being bright in the daytime, uh lasers are for night. Put boresight in chamber and scope was dead on. (was already sighted in) I did play with the adjustment to see the laser move around. Yes, I recommend this product.

I recommend.
Performed exactly as advertised. I haven't had a chance to sight my rifle in at 100 yards yet, but I am sure it will work, as I've played around at closer ranges so far, and it is a laser pointer after all.It fed into my bolt action rifle (Ruger American) just as a regular round would, no issue, and it extracted as a spent cartridge would. The only downside I see is that it has no on/off switch, it's just 'on' once you install the batteries, which isn't much of a downside if you think about it, and may even be a plus.... I mean, how often do you plan to use this? At least by forcing me to take the batteries out, I won't leave them in for a year unused, then have the batteries leak and destroy the product like which always happens to me (just lost a radio due to battery leakage)...I just needed something to get me onto paper since I don't have a spotter, and couldn't see where I was even hitting. As long as I don't break my scope, I'm sure I won't even need it again.Which is why I purchased this product, good price. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on something I'll rarely use. But yes, if I ever buy another caliber scoped rifle, I will buy this product again.Recommended.

Recieved Broken/Inoperable with Dead Batteries
I received the item, looked like it had been sitting for a very long time as the batteries were starting to corrode; which was fine. I figured the batteries were dead so I tested them with my multimeter. Two out of the six were dead. Purchased fresh batteries and could not get the laser to work or even turn on. Also I would like to note the instructions say insert (4) batteries and that is quite difficult as three fit in fine, adding a fourth you need a vise to compress the spring. It is too bad, I was looking forward to using it.

this this boresight's great. The construction is quite nice
If you have an in-door environment, or an outdoor area that can accommodate your rifle and scope in a dark setting, this this boresight's great. The construction is quite nice, thick brass. The laser appears generally on point, not skewed in any one direction (which would make it useless). That said, the red beam is simply too weak to sight in past perhaps 25 yards. I tried sighting in at 100 yards, and with a 24x Sightron, I couldn't see the laser dot. Just too weak. This presents a ballistics issue for .308. If you sight in at 25 yards, then attempt to knock a 50- or 100-yard target, you'll be quite a few MOA off - enough so, that you probably will not even hit paper or steel. So, you'll have to find a dark space, or an indoor space, to accommodate the brightness of the laser, if you want to sight in past 25 yards.I give construction and accuracy of the laser point 5/5s, practicality and the weakness of the laser, 2/5s.

FAST WAY TO GET ON PAPER!
I was having problems getting on the target at 200 yards with my .308 with a new Nikon scope even though the gunshop zeroed it at their shop using lens-type sighting apparatus. I bought this laser bore cartridge, placed the batteries (all four) into the end so the red laser came on, inserted it into the barrel, and closed the breech. I had set up the rifle on a bench rest in my back yard with a target at 25 yards. The laser was bright, centered on the bullseye and I used the dials to set my scope's crosshairs perfectly in the center of the red dot. A few days later at the 200 meter range I decided to shoot groups of three. My first group was 4" low and 1" to the right. I adjusted the scope 16 clicks in elevation and 4 clicks left windage and the next group was centered. It was really that easy...
